Fahs cited a half-dozen complaints filed by sailors in his letter to Modder, including: a sailor who said Modder told him homosexuality is wrong; a female sailor who says Modder told her she was "shaming herself in the eyes of God" for having premarital sex; and a pregnant sailor who says Modder criticized her for not being married.

I have little doubt what happened. This good Chaplain gave them sound Christian spiritual counseling and guidance. He never belittled them or attacked them. However, the principalities and powers that are manifest in our nation today want to stamp out Christianity, and this man is suffering for the cause of Jesus Christ.

As a retired military chaplain, allow me again to point out that a chaplain is on active duty as a faithful representative of his/her denomination. THAT is their value to the military. On the battlefield they provide RELIGIOUS support. They MUST be faithful to their denomination or their denomination will FIRE THEM from the military even faster than the military can.

So, the counseling of a chaplain is a RELIGIOUS act and must be faithful. They are NOT medical corps counselors, and in fact, they are forbidden to be in those slots. Their credentials are entirely different.

So, when someone comes to an ASSEMBLY OF GOD chaplain and presents issues, they will be given answers that are faithful to that chaplain's religious background. They are not psychologists, social workers, secular therapists. That is not why they are there.

They are there as RELIGIOUS REPRESENTATIVES to comfort the living, pray with the wounded, and honor the dead.
