Yeah, I had around the same experience, although my father came out as atheist, so he’s not with that church anymore, and well, some time ago, I didn’t feel part of the Episcopal Church because of the downplaying of the Bible stories as symbolic lessons and downplaying of some Bible miracles as perhaps not “literal” I decided that it wasn’t just a story, I would take another route.
Am a cradle Episcopalian, but now consider myself a Traditional Anglican. The church I used to attend, in a conservative area, just hired its first openly homosexual clergy, complete with a “husband.” It used to be a cardinal parish in the diocese, with nearly 2,000 families/pledging units, including a good number of young couples (the natural kind) and a thriving Sunday school & a preschool. It was one of the few Episcopal parishes in the U.S. that was growing. All that has reversed in recent years. What young parents want to expose their children to the immorality, sin, and filth of a sexually perverted priest? Answer: NONE.
