If this is such a scandal, why is there nothing discussing it on DICI, on the page of SSPV, on True Restoration, on the Remnant, or even on Rorate?

Maybe they just haven't posted it yet. Maybe they just can't keep up with the onslaught of scandal coming out of the Vatican. Or maybe they just see it as "just another day in the pontificate of Jorge" (ie. nothing new under the sun).

You have time to read all that? Since you're apparently so interested, how about you provide the rest of us with the daily "scandal" update?

Nobody has to wait to be scandalized by Humble Jorge; he’s been doing that for two years now.

This same meeting was published in the Washington Post (a source you have used) which was quoting Religion News Services. I chose to publish the article with the most information. But I see you like to attack the messenger.

I’m coming up on 81 years old and believe, in my Life I will see the end of the Catholic Church. The last 10 years have been brutal and extremely destructive To Catholics trying to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Without Christ as the center of Catholic teaching , all is lost.

Why wait until Thursday?

As expected, the leaked Encylical is being translated. Here is the take of National Journal from what they have read:

I think if he wanted to make a strong statement of faith he would have made it a long time ago. The Church has been caught flat footed on the issue of sodomy. They should have gotten out ahead of the issue twenty years ago when fake scientific studies were coming out claiming that homosexuality was a born trait.

1) He should make a strong statement to the world reinforcing God’s view of marriage as being ONLY between a man and a woman, made for the purpose of procreation and building families.

2) This is why God (or nature if you prefer) made 50% of the population male and the other 50% female.

3) This is why everyone on earth has a MOTHER and a FATHER. Two men or two women have NEVER made a baby together.

4) The human family consists of male and female family members. We come from families that have mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, brothers and sisters, aunt and uncles.

5) The NATURAL HUMAN FAMILY unites both halves of the human family.

6) Heterosexuality integrates both sexes, homosexuality segregates the sexes.

7) Form follows function in nature. We can see that the parts of males and females were designed to be used together for the purpose of starting families and keeping the human race alive for generation after generation just as it is among the animal kingdom.

8) Throughout 4,000 years of world history, no nation is known to have sanctioned same sex marriage even though there was homosexuality.

9) We have seen the push for same sex marriage quickly change to a new demand that of the full acceptance of transexualism. Now we are seeing even children being “diagnosed” as being transsexual and even given powerful opposite sex hormones to prevent them from developing the normal traits of their sex when they reach puberty. The acceptance of homosexual marriage has empowered the glbt groups to keep pushing for more extreme demands.

10) Acceptance of homosexual marriage gives power to a radical tiny percent of people who feel entitled to change human society the way they want it to be. What right do they have to impose their will on the vast majority of people and to impose dangerous social changes on humanity?

11) Now that the homosexuals have found the formula for imposing their will on society which consists of slick propaganda, political arm twisting and social media intimidation, they feel invincible. They are already talking about terminating marriage and opening things up to include any number of people in “relationships”.

12) A father and daughter in an incestuous relationship have gone to a judge to have their incest declared legal. This is related to homosexual marriage as homosexual marriage and transexualism have been stepping stones to other forms of perversion. This is about knocking down all of the moral and social restraints on sexuality.

13) Pedophiles have been trying to sneak in legislation to make sex with minors legal. NAMBLA—the North American Man Boy Love Association is a notorious homosexual pedophile group that has marched in the New York City gay pride parades. Should we trust people who embrace this vile group in their parades?

14) Homosexuals have pushed their agenda in the schools even for children in elementary grades. This shows that they do not have consideration or respect for us or our children.

15) The homosexual agenda is a form of mass insanity that has swept over whole nations very quickly like a social version of influenza. We need to slow down and take stock of the long term consequences of the gay agenda.

16) The majority still rules, a small minority no matter how well funded or cunning still does not have the right to take away the rights of the majority.

There will be beaucoup opportunity to be authentically scandalized in the near future.

And also in the recent past:

Or would you rather me post a picture of him groveling for a "blessing" from heretics?

Humble Jorge won’t even genuflect before approaching the tabernacle. But he’ll kneel to wash muslims feet on Holy Thursday for photo ops.

Dear markomalley,

I count and see a few hundred folks at best,

There is a center row with seats on both sides. When I count the number of columns on the near side, I see six chairs - six rows. On the far side, it's tougher to see, but it looks like, at the most, maybe 10 columns. Then counting back from the front of the seating, I see on the near side maybe six rows, with one of those rows being empty. On the far side, the rows extend further back, and it's difficult to see just how many rows there, but it looks to be perhaps 20 or maybe as many as 25. This totals maybe 300. One can't really see the floor space at the edges of the photo, but there are hundreds of bleacher seats, and they're all empty.

The space is remarkably like the space of the main gym of the convocation center of my high school alma mater. Having been to numerous ceremonies in that space, I know that the main floor, when filled with seating, will sit fewer than five hundred folks. Here, the seating isn't tight at all, and parts of the floor are occupied by other than seating.

I actually showed my wife this picture, and she asked, is that our convocation center? She put the crowd at a few hundred.

If one filled the bleachers and filled out the entire venue, there are seats for a few thousand folks - but there's no one in them. I'm not inclined to count as attendees empty seats.

You do understand that this event has not yet occurred (it is scheduled for July 11th).

This is simply a picture of the venue (actually it was taken from the school's website).

I'm sure you've either attended or seen a papal visit. The people are always packed in like sardines...from the floor to the rafters. If this one is not the case, I will be absolutely shocked.

Either way.

The point is that those are far more legitimate subjects of criticism. (Though I would think the most legitimate thing would be to criticize his words)

You should read some of the comments (but not post) over on the caucus thread New encyclical leaked in Italian (Fr. Z weighs in) [Catholic Caucus], especially in contrast to those on the thread Pope's Flock May Not Heed 'Climate Change' Concerns . The air is leaking out of the papal optimists' balloons.

I’m simply sitting back and watching the evolution of the Catholic Church as has been going on for centuries. It’s simply arranging itself as the harbor for all people and all religions.

Dear markomalley,

“I’m sure you've either attended or seen a papal visit. The people are always packed in like sardines...from the floor to the rafters. If this one is not the case, I will be absolutely shocked.”

I really don't know. I find the venue a little surprising. I live in the Archdiocese of Washington. When popes have visited DC, the venues are usually a little larger than a high school gym, so I'm not really sure what I think they will do. When I've paid any attention to popes' travels, they seem to be doing things in large stadia, or even outdoors, to hundreds of thousands, or even a million or more folks.

This place looks more like what I'd see when the bishop visits my old high school. And we don't pack 'em in "like sardines" when bishops visit. I figured the choice of location may be to foster a somewhat more intimate setting for meeting the pope. In which case, I don't assume that the site will be “packed in like sardines.”

Words? You want words?

“I’m not interested in converting Evangelicals to Catholicism. I want people to find Jesus in their own community. There are so many doctrines we will never agree on. Let’s not spend our time on those (ebb's emphasis). Rather, let’s be about showing the love of Jesus.”

Do you need to convince the other to become Catholic? No, no, no! Go out and meet him, he is your brother. This is enough.

And finally:

The Pope Francis Little Book of Insults

Are you up to criticizing any of the above, Mark? Or will you just continue to falsely attack me with "character assassination"?

Come tomorrow's release of the tree-huggers' Magna Carta, I'll be anxiously awaiting your "defense" of it.

I will continue to rightfully attack you with "character assassination" when you take left-wing sources that distort something.

The quote you provided is indeed an utterly heretical quote. Though I'd suggest that you contrast that quote with actual Magisterium. For example, from Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos:

13. Now We consider another abundant source of the evils with which the Church is afflicted at present: indifferentism. This perverse opinion is spread on all sides by the fraud of the wicked who claim that it is possible to obtain the eternal salvation of the soul by the profession of any kind of religion, as long as morality is maintained. Surely, in so clear a matter, you will drive this deadly error far from the people committed to your care. With the admonition of the apostle that "there is one God, one faith, one baptism"[16] may those fear who contrive the notion that the safe harbor of salvation is open to persons of any religion whatever. They should consider the testimony of Christ Himself that "those who are not with Christ are against Him,"[17] and that they disperse unhappily who do not gather with Him. Therefore "without a doubt, they will perish forever, unless they hold the Catholic faith whole and inviolate."[18] Let them hear Jerome who, while the Church was torn into three parts by schism, tells us that whenever someone tried to persuade him to join his group he always exclaimed: "He who is for the See of Peter is for me."[19] A schismatic flatters himself falsely if he asserts that he, too, has been washed in the waters of regeneration. Indeed Augustine would reply to such a man: "The branch has the same form when it has been cut off from the vine; but of what profit for it is the form, if it does not live from the root?"[20]

Generally if you approach something objectively and unemotionally...for example, contrasting a heretical statement by Bergoglio with a Magisterial one, you will actually manage to convince more people of your point of view than if you simply go on a rant...

Come tomorrow's release of the tree-huggers' Magna Carta, I'll be anxiously awaiting your "defense" of it.

Keep waiting.

What you WILL see is credit where credit is due (for example, he does point out the cognitive dissonance that exists in those who would defend creation while fully supporting the wholesale slaughter of the young).

And, where he spouts heresy, you will see that discussed as well.

What you WON'T see is calumny. One may not do evil that good may come of it.
