This is a caucus thread and participation is limited to members of the Orthodox and Catholic churches. Your respect for this is appreciated.

Note: For those on the traditional church calendar the fast does not begin until August 14/01. While technically it doesn't begin until Saturday for those on the Gregorian calendar, it effectively begins tomorrow since most Wednesdays and Fridays are fast days in their own right.

Blessings be upon you for posting.

We begin the fast tomorrow and are disposing of meat and dairy in our house now - by consuming!

Neither the grave nor death could contain the Theotokos, the unshakable hope, ever vigilant in intercession and protection. As Mother of life, He who dwelt in the ever-virginal womb transposed her to life.
