I agree completely. Being gay—in that having that proclivity—is not a sin. Acting on it is a sin.
When the Church (or at least some clergy in this case) celebrates them in the name of tolerance, they are giving approval of the act and thus are approving of the sin and actually sinning themselves because according to Catholic doctrine supporting someone in their sin is a sin in and of itself.
