I will agree with you that arrogance in regard to one’s education is no virtue, but will add that neither is arrogance in regard to one’s lack of it. The bottom line is that a sound knowledge of Hebrew and Greek is a good thing; and remains good so far as one does not set it against the plain meaning of the text of Scripture.

No argument here! I know a little Greek, and have a decent library of scholarly helps.

But more and more I find that the Bible will correct our mistakes if we'll let it (as in the OP illustrations) and that knowledge of Greek is often superfluous in this regard. Let us put our trust in the Book we've been given, because of Who gave it to us.
