Honey I can relate to your fears
Our oldest boy 15 has asthma too....it’s gotten better but it’s there
4 Christmases ago he was working at our businesses helping me with garbage emptying and was whining about being tight
I thought he was slacking
He kept hitting his inhaler
He got home we did the smart thing and gave him some guafenisen but the worst thing and put him in warm steamy shower after being out in cold
He got acute quick and was near panic and I grabbed him up and headed for our county hospital one county south of nashville
They got him in quick and put him on atropine and an albuterol mask and a mild sedative or maybe morphine to relax his sore diaphragm
His O2 level was damn low at 82-84% and fearing it could get worse they rushed him via ambulance to Vandy Children’s in midtown Nashville
With 4 other kids at home my wife was home bound and I stayed till next morning when she relieved me
Cortisone IV and morphine and constant albuterol mask cranked up plus other inhalers for about 20 hours spared him a respirator
His level got back to 92-94 by the following day which was Christmas Eve and a snowy one at that and he got home about 9 that evening
I of course blamed myself for not being aware enough of the seriousness
Your son is for sure in our prayers
It was scaredest thing I’ve experienced as a parent since my oldest daughter had pneumonia in Miami at 4 months and she was already a 31. Week preemie
