Like many people, I was first inspired to get involved in the pro-life movement because of courageous leadership from the clergy.

Countless pastors from many churches have helped spread 40 Days for Life … and they all need our prayers as they proclaim the Word of God in a hostile world.

Prominent Evangelical, Catholic and Protestant leaders have endorsed 40 Days for Life and encouraged the faithful to defend God’s most vulnerable among us. You can see these leaders – and their words of endorsement – at:

https://40daysforlife.com/endorsements

One of those leaders is dominating the media this week, and he will be visiting three major cities where 40 Days for Life vigils are taking place – Pope Francis!

Pope Francis has supported 40 Days for Life around the globe and was able to meet our international outreach director, Robert Colquhoun, in Rome.

As Pope Francis visits the United States, local 40 Days for Life leaders are reaching out to those traveling to Washington, New York and Philadelphia. One leader said, “If people are coming to town to see the pope, they’re also invited to come pray at our vigil!”

Day 3

Cleveland, Bedford Heights and Painesville, Ohio

September 25, 2015 fall2015cleveland1

Steve Karlen, our North American outreach director, attended an event in Cleveland that was a combined kickoff for three campaigns.

Steve describes Cleveland coordinator John Noall as “a rock star. He retired early so that he could have more time to serve God. That, of course, includes doing a whale of a job leading 40 Days for Life.”

fall2015cleveland2

The team is still celebrating the recent closure of a Cleveland abortion facility. They’ve also learned that another center is now open only four days a month.

“I also met a young man,” Steve said, “who told me an ex-girlfriend got pregnant. He said he was promiscuous at the time and thought it might be his baby. It wasn’t, but he helped pay for the abortion. He was so haunted that it became a turning point in his life. But he eventually found faith … and when he learned of 40 Days for Life at his church, he jumped in.”

Just wanted to let everyone know...that there is a ‘pink out’ to stand with planned parenthood. Its hard to believe anyone would do it but Hope it will be countered with the truth..

Day 4

Columbus, Georgia

September 26, 2015 fall2015columbus-ga2

WRBL-TV, the area’s CBS affiliate, covered the 40 Days for Life kickoff event in Columbus.

“The campaign’s goal is to end abortion,” the station reported. “Pro-life supporters across the country will gather outside of abortion clinics for 40 days to pray for everyone involved in the abortion process.

The station interviewed Kelly, who became pregnant when she was a teen and visited three abortion centers.

“When I went to that abortion clinic I needed help and I needed somebody I could talk to. I didn’t necessarily want an abortion. I just needed help,” she said. She added that she was grateful for the decision she made to keep her son.

While many of the 307 vigils are held outside Planned Parenthood centers, Columbus is one of the cities where Planned Parenthood doesn’t operate. The vigil there is outside an abortion facility called Columbus Women’s Health Organization.

Day 5

Klamath Falls, Oregon

September 27, 2015 fall2015klamathfalls2

Diane checked in from the Klamath Falls campaign, where the vigil is held near the county health department.

“It was a warm 80 degrees,” she said. “Here in South Central Oregon, east of the Cascades, we use umbrellas for the sun as well as the rain.”

The campaign is growing, Diane explained, as more volunteers are finding out about the vigil and joining to pray for an end to abortion. Participation has tripled since the first campaign.

“God is good!” she said.

Day 7

Tempe, Arizona

September 29, 2015 spring2015tempe4

“It’s complicated.” That’s become something of a catch phrase, but Lisa in Tempe says it’s a good description of the situation one young woman finds herself in – a young woman who needs your prayers.

Volunteers spoke to her outside the Planned Parenthood abortion center. Actually, it was her mother who started the conversation. “What can you do to help?” she asked.

The response was simple. “Well, what do you need help with?”

The volunteers were handed a rather fuzzy ultrasound image. After a brief discussion, the young woman, her mother – and her grandmother, who was also with them – were directed to a pregnancy help center where they could get some life-affirming guidance.

They visited, and they talked. But the young woman still has an appointment for an abortion.

“Please pray for divine intervention and that the walls of fear will come tumbling down,” Lisa requested. “Give this family strength, dear Lord, to carry this pregnancy to term.”
