Actually I thought the same myself until I saw it in person. It is actually breathtaking and inspiring - very deeply Christian, you can feel Gaudi’s faith in it. Also the effect of the stained glass is amazing. It’s really hard to judge based on pictures but the overall effect in person is amazing.

It really is impressive in person.
Not sure its worth all the time and money but Gaudi had a unique eye.

I can concur with this. When I first saw pictures of it, it does look ugly. Then when you see it in person, it is absolutely unbelievable. I think it is because you cannot see the detail of it from a distance. When you get close and start seeing all the sculpture and detail on the building, it is very overwhelming (in a good way).

It is worth traveling to Barcelona to see this.
