The Israelites, through their priests, Levites and representatives, sealed themselves to the Lord, abandoning the practice of idolatry, covenanting not to intermarry with the heathen, embracing a more rigorous observance of the Sabbath, and offering "first fruits" to the Lord.

Nehemiah 10:40……“We will not neglect the house of our God” … PRAYING FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM, FOR OUR FAMILIES AND OUR FRIENDS, FOR OUR NATIONS...Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? … as living stones ~ being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood ~ offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. … I appeal to you therefore, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. … Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. … And let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near … Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.
