And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed:.. Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day: Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard’s house, both me and the chief baker: And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.(Genesis 40:1-8)

We have been looking at the story of Joseph, in Genesis. One of the miraculous things about the chosen people, is that the stories of their prophets, Kings and Patriarchs are not only true history, but they serve as prophecy as well. In this case the story of Joseph prefigures the Messiah to come. So far we have seen, that like the Messiah,

*Joseph is the beloved of His Father…

* He came to the children of Israel…

* They become offended by him became of the Word of God

* The leaders of the nation conspire to have him killed

* They throw him into a pit

* Brother Judah (Judas) sells him for silver pieces

* Jacob believes he is dead never to be seen again

* He is turned over to the Gentiles…

*Israel’s Messiah would be falsely accused and imprisoned.

*There would be two other malefactors with Him.

*One of them would speak to Messiah and be saved,

*The other would die in his sins.

Joseph has languished in an Egyptian prison for years, but he has prospered even their, basically being made a trustee.Due to the blessing of Abraham, and Joseph’s excellent spirit, even the prisoners around him prosper.

But the day comes when Pharaoh is troubled by a double dream, 7 fat cattle, devoured by seven lean cattle, then seven plump ears of grain are devoured by seven very lean ears of grain.None of Pharoah’s occult experts or advisors could give him a satisfactory answer.Send for Joseph!

Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it. And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.(Genesis 41:14-16)

Joseph is given the interpretation, seven years of plenty are set, but then a seven year,worldwide famine is coming, God has warned you to prepare for it.

We should note that the Pharaohs were considered living incarnations of God, but here the Egyptian “god” is troubled by a mystery, and has to send to the Prison for the lowly Hebrew slave to give him an answer. By this God given answer to the fake “god”, was Pharaoh, Egypt and the rest of the known world saved!

Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt. Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years. And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities. And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine. And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants. And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?(Genesis 41:33-38) Pharaoh had better get ready, Joseph said, the fact that He had the dream twice means that God will bring the dream to pass very shortly. Pharaoh needs to hire someone of discretion and wisdom who can plan and delegate to store enough grain in the good years to be ready for the evil ones.

Notice how Pharaoh, the fake “god” had to acknowledge the Spirit of the Living God in Joseph?

And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art: Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.(Genesis 41:39-43)

Now Joseph, the rejected one, hated by his brothers and betrayed and sold to the gentiles, is elevated out of prison, so that he can be set upon the throne of the most powerful nation on earth, and all men must acknowledge him, “Every knee must bow” before the one who virtually saved the world. Sound familiar?

*Exalted and glorified

*Saves the World

*Every knee shall bow

*all must acknowledge Him , even kings
