Rev Wright was just a typical pastor in the United Church of Christ, which is also typical of Chicago Catholic and United Methodist Pastors and pastors of other main-stream denominations.

In the 70s and 80s in Chicago there was open financial and personnel support of the Sandanistas, fundraising dances and raffles, non-profits funneling war-on-poverty money to the cause, pastors assuring people the money in the collection plate was going to the cause, and not for the pastor to have a fancy car.... But Catholic priests were allowed to share a townhouse in boystown.

Singling out Rev Wright as if he were out of the mainstream is just not accurate.

Who said or implied Wright was out of the ordinary? But given who sat in his “church” for 20+ years, there should be at least some mention of him in this fairly lengthy article. This is the sort of crap you see posted in the New York Times, where they try to hide glaring stuff like this from their readers. And how does the marshmallow who posted the piece here not mention it.

National Council of Churches: Worldviews, Activities, and Agendas

By Jacob Laksin
DiscoverTheNetworks.org
2005

Since its founding in 1950, the New York City-based National Council of Churches (NCC) has remained faithful to the legacy of its predecessor, the Communist front-group known as the Federal Council of Churches, which the NCC absorbed in 1950. At one time an unabashed apostle of the Communist cause, the NCC has today recast itself as a leading representative of the so-called religious Left. Adhering to what it has described as 'liberation theology'-that is, Marxist ideology disguised as Christianity-the NCC lays claim to a membership of 36 Protestant, Anglican and Orthodox Christian denominations, and some 50 million members in over 140,000 congregations.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the NCC has soft-pedaled its radical message, dressing up its demands for global collectivization and its rejection of democratic capitalism in the garb of religious teachings. Yet the organization's history suggests that it was-and remains-a devout backer of a gallery of socialist governments.

In the 1950s and 1960s, under cover of charity, the NCC provided financial succor to the Communist regimes in Yugoslavia and Poland, funneling money to both through its relief agency, the Church World Service.

In the 1970s, working with its Geneva-based parent organization, the World Council of Churches, the NCC supplied financial support for Soviet-sponsored incursions into Africa, aiding the terrorist rampages of Communist guerrillas in Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique, and Angola. ..."

Reverend Wright's "church" was/is part of the far left "National Council of Churches" (he's supposedly since retired from Trinity).

"Trinity United Church of Christ is a predominantly African-American church with more than 8,500 members, located in the Washington Heights community on the South Side of Chicago.[1]

It is the largest church affiliated with the United Church of Christ, a predominantly white Christian denomination with roots in Congregationalism, which historically branched from early American Puritanism.[2]"

"In early 2008, as part of their presidential election coverage, news media outlets and political commentators brought Trinity to national attention when controversial excerpts of sermons by the church's longtime former pastor Jeremiah Wright were broadcast to highlight Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's relationship with Wright and the church."

Re: National Council of Churches

From David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com/DiscoverTheNetworks.org:
Profile: Institute For Policy Studies (IPS)

IPS's [Institute For Policy Studies] Washington, DC headquarters quickly became a resource center for national reporters and a place for KGB agents from the nearby Soviet embassy to convene and strategize. Cora Weiss headed one of the IPS's most successful forays -- into Riverside Church in Manhattan. She was invited there in 1978 by the Reverend William Sloane Coffin to run the church's Disarmament Program, which sought to consolidate Soviet nuclear superiority in Europe -- in the name of "peace." In 1982 Weiss helped organize the largest pro-disarmament demonstration ever held. Staged in New York City, the rally was attended by a coalition of communist organizations.

During her decade-long tenure at Riverside, which became home to the National Council of Churches, Weiss regularly received Russian KGB agents, Sandinista friends, and Cuban intelligence agents. Weiss became infamous for her role in the psychological warfare conducted against U.S. prisoners of war held in the infamous "Hanoi Hilton" during the Vietnam War.

The Liberation News Service, which is a news source for hundreds of "alternative" publications nationwide (with antiwar, Marxist-oriented perspectives), was founded in 1967 with IPS assistance."

You are right, Chicongo has been the epicenter of communism in America for decades. Frank Marshall Davis, card carrying communist, lived there before he moved to Hawaii where he bacame Barack Hussein Obama’s mentor.
