Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Hallowed Be Your Name.
You Alone Are Holy,
You Alone Are The One True God.
Clothe Us In Your Righteousness, Oh LORD,
And Teach Us To Be responsible for Our Own Behavior.
We also pray for you to raise up wise and Godly leaders
Who will judge rightly,
And Serve You as they serve the people.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

This is one of those difficult Passages that have been misused by oppressive people to gain control over others. At first reading, I bristled with indignation, because I have always been a rebellious "free spirit" kind of person. Is Peter excusing tyranny and slavery here? In the context of studying Peter's life, we can easily see that this is not the case.

From the very first chapters in the Book of Acts, we see Peter being a "good citizen" up to the point where it conflicts with the Gospel. "We must obey God rather than man" is his response to the authorities when he is ordered NOT to preach in the name of Jesus, and both Peter and Paul walked out of jail when given the opportunity. In Peter's case, his escape caused the execution of his prison guards!

We have 20th century Examples of Corrie Ten Boom, Raul Wallenburg, Oskar Schindler, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who broke numerous laws and thereby saved many Jewish People during WW2. My own dear friend Lil broke a slew of laws smuggling Bibles into a sharia-law country (I can't say which) under a burka! (I was probably breaking some kind of law when I sent stuff to another friend who was a missionary in Haiti while under the Clinton Embargo.)

Nevertheless, Peter's admonition makes sense even in an imperfect world. When a nation has a majority who adhere to the Judeo-Christian ethic, the nation prospers. Righteousness is something that exalts a country, and touches everyone who lives there, including the unbelievers.

As we reflect on the meaning of D-Day, and the sacrifices that were made to make the world free, let us all do what we can to keep America Free, peaceful, and prosperous.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
