I had Huguenot ancestors from Saintonge, France who were married in the French Church in Bristol...

it was quite a Christian city at the time...

and welcomed the French Christian refugees..

but that was in 1696...

They left there for America 2 years later...

Guess Bristol has been going downhill ever since...

In the mid to late 1800s, George Mueller built an orphanage in Bristol that eventually cared for 4,000 children. His international ministry was also based there. He was perhaps the key church leader of that era. For example, he sent 10,000 pounds to Hudson Taylor for his work in China. All this was done by faith. So at least something good came out of Bristol.
