And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.(Revelation 6:5-6)
The Lamb, bearing the marks of slaughter, has taken a book from the hand of the One who sits on the throne. The book is sealed, but the lamb has been found worthy to open the seals. As the seals are broken, the conditions are set for the accomplishment of the purpose of God to bring about a New Creation of heaven and earth.
We come to the third seal which features a black horse and rider, the rider is holding scales, which is the symbol for commerce. The message is that a loaf of good bread will cost a days wages, cheaper bread, barley, a third of a days wages. But he is instructed not to hurt the oil and the wine.
Economic and commercial tribulation is what is in view here. The soaring price of basic food is here contrasted with the preservation of luxury items, oil and wine, for there is going to be a simultaneous wiping out of the middle class, and elevation of elites. The gap gets wider and wider between “oil and Wine” and “Wheat and Barley”.
James prophesied that these elites are being fattened for the slaughter,
Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord…(James 5:1-6)
I have no doubt at all that these whom James refer to are the ones who have profited materially and politically by the looting of whole national economies. The USA is only the latest example of this theft through currency speculation, “Bailouts”, inflation of the money supply, irresponsible policies such as subprime mortgage loans which profit politicians while it destroys those who play by the rules.
James warns these super rich,super ruthless, power players who have plundered the body politic, enriching themselves obscenely while millions of people’s savings, pensions and legacies go up in smoke, and our great, great grandchildren are indebted by the “bailouts” which the powerful use for their own advantage.
If this isn’t already the Black horse it is the portent of it, for there is coming an economic reckoning which will utterly wipe out the middle class, even the upper class, but it will entrench the powerful movers and shakers whose policies have created this economic crisis.
By the fraud of global warming billions of dollars, Euros and other currencies have been taken from taxpayers and made to serve the lies of politically motivated “science”. national policies have been formed on the basis of such misinformation that have wrecked livelihoods, economies and progress in many fields.
* Weep and Howl for your miseries… But the same policies which have ruined millions of lives have enriched those who are in position of power to capitalize on them.I think of Al Gore who has positioned himself to become a billionaire, due to policies based on his fraudulent environmentalism.
* Your Gold and Silver is cankered… Gold and Silver is seen as the saviour, the hedge against the troubles of the last days, but we must remember that “Silver and Gold will not profit in the day of wrath, but with Righteousness there is great reward”. Vain is the faith in Gold as a hedge.
* You have heaped treasure for the last days… What good will these baubles do in the day of Judgment? The day will come when men will throw their treasures in caves, and plead with the Rocks and stones to fall on them rather than face the Lamb in his wrath.
*You kept back by fraud…The carefully saved and invested money of those who worked hard, saved and played by the rules has been evaporated by the policies of the power people, the movers and shakers of the financial and political world.
Hardworking people sweated and worked and scrimped and saved for the future. Meanwhile politicians wanting votes, forced banks to make bad loans to people who couldn’t pay them back,crushing our economy for the short term gain of looking like a ‘benefactor’ and getting votes. No worry the taxpayers will back up the loans! When these policies wiped out the economy the same politicians refused blame. God sees this and takes note.
They have used the cultivation of envy, in their politics to sway the masses to give them political power, there is reason to believe that they have deliberately tanked national economies to achieve their ends.
*You have lived in pleasure and been wanton… The Powerful themselves are often exempted from the consequences of their policies. They don’t have to live in the communities where immigrants from hostile nations move in, bringing a crime wave with them.
*You have condemned and killed the just…By the policies of the Rulers and Shakers, innocent people die. Because of our refusal to drill for oil, the corn crop is being turned into Ethanol. As a result there are food riots in Mexico and South America. Because Chinese people want to drill for oil in Sudan, black Christian and Muslim tribes are either killed , slaved or driven off of the land.
I know, I know, this has always been the case, but when the Black horse rides, (if he isn’t already) we will see this with a vengeance. The Party comes to a crashing stop,
The new wine mourneth, the vine languisheth, all the merryhearted do sigh.The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.They shall not drink wine with a song; strong drink shall be bitter to them that drink it.
The city of confusion is broken down: every house is shut up, that no man may come in. There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is darkened, the mirth of the land is gone.In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.(Isaiah 24:7-12)
Come quickly Lord Jesus!
I’m not USA centric on this. It is not the elites of the USA. It is the elites of the entire interdependent civilized world we live in today.
Same with all the other biblical prophesies of the last days.
