Biblically, animals have no soul. In the absence of which, they cannot judge Good and Evil. Failing that distinction, they can lay no claim to a morality that is anything but learned behavior.
So while you may embrace your “enlightened” view, I’ll rest mine on more solid — and “rigid” — footings.
