Another Christmas is quickly approaching and with it yet another round of insults to the Christian faith. Increasingly we are afraid to utter the C word in public places, or in seasonal advertising. We wouldnt want to offend those people of other faiths, you know.
Before I go any further, let me explain: Im not one of those self-righteous fire-breathing religious types who reflexively seek vengeance over the smallest slight. I dont argue endlessly over subjects like school prayer, or a cross on a government building. I refuse to accept the notion, held by so many, that my religion entitles me to special privileges in the public square.
But this year, it seems, this attitude of christo-phobia has reached an all-time high. You see, this politically correct positioning has become more and more clever; sometimes, if you blink, youll miss it. A few examples:
Not so long ago, every public school in the land gave its students a week off during March or April. They called it Easter Vacation, and it was supposed to be a time for spiritual reflection in honor of the Resurrection.

Down in S. MS, even teachers ain’t afraid to say it. I went to Reilly’s Auto Parts yesterday and the guy behind the counter told me to have a blessed day - Walmart folks also say Merry Christmas and wish blessings.
In other locales where Christ reigns triumphant, "Christmas" truly is the hap-hap-happiest time of the year. And people aren't afraid to show it.
You can still say Feliz navidad
And since it’s the language of immigrants....it’s magically politically correct! LOL
It’s still Advent. Don’t pay attention to the stores.
I teach & live in MS & tomorrow we are glittering paper ornaments for our door! We have secret Santa, a Christmas brunch, etc. Alive & well ; )
Yesterday my husband & I were Krogering & we ran into someone we see maybe once a year. We said our goodbyes & as she was leaving I said, “In case we don’t see you have a merry Christmas!” She immediately looked really happy & wished us the same. Nice.
I saw Lindsey Graham interviewed by Fox and at the end of the the interview he said “Merry Christmas”. The Fox babe returned with: “you too”.
Not much to like about Graham, but gotta like him for that.
Wow! “Celebration” is pitiful, but the stripper still has pasties on. Change celebration to time & voila, she’s bare Nikkei!
Nekkid
These generic “this holiday, buy...” commercials make me hate their generic season with a passion. I remember the Christmases of boyhood when even Dennis the Menace comic books dedicated their entire issue to Christmas in Bethlehem.
I absolutely hate “holiday.” It’s a profanity to me.
I say Christmas every chance I get. And I am Jewish. My in-laws hate it.
God Bless! Great to hear from a MS teacher on FR.
Right back at you & Merry Christmas!
I feel emboldened. When people say “reach out” I tell them to go pound sand!
