Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Book of Psalms

(Psalm 48)

Psalm 48[a]

A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah.

1 Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise,
    in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

2 Beautiful in its loftiness,
    the joy of the whole earth,
like the heights of Zaphon[b] is Mount Zion,
    the city of the Great King.
3 God is in her citadels;
    he has shown himself to be her fortress.

4 When the kings joined forces,
    when they advanced together,
5 they saw her and were astounded;
    they fled in terror.
6 Trembling seized them there,
    pain like that of a woman in labor.
7 You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish
    shattered by an east wind.

8 As we have heard,
    so we have seen
in the city of the Lord Almighty,
    in the city of our God:
God makes her secure
    forever.[c]

9 Within your temple, O God,
    we meditate on your unfailing love.
10 Like your name, O God,
    your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;
    your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices,
    the villages of Judah are glad
    because of your judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
    count her towers,
13 consider well her ramparts,
    view her citadels,
that you may tell of them
    to the next generation.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever;
    he will be our guide even to the end.

Oh LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name over All The Earth!
For You Alone Are Worthy;
You Alone Are LORD;
You Alone Are The King of the Universe!
Ancient of Days;
You Are The One True God of Abraham,
and We Praise and Worship You
with Our Whole Heart,
Soul, Mind, and Spirit!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.


We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I watched joyfully as the American Marine hacked away at the base of the huge statue of Saddam Hussein. The children of Baghdad cheered him on, and when the statue toppled and its head broke off, they hauled it away, hitting it with their shoes, which was a Middle-Eastern gesture of contempt. The Marine then raised Old Glory on what was left of the statue in a gesture of Victory. Suddenly, he received orders to remove his Flag "so as not to offend" the people of Baghdad. As I remember seeing this incident in "Real Time" so many years ago, my blood still boils! Clearly, from God's Word, we can see that celebrating victory, especially when we know that the victory is righteous and of the Lord, is NOT a bad thing. We are told not to "gloat", but we ARE told to REJOICE, and always remember from where the victory comes.

Today's Psalm is a clear song of Victory, giving credit where it is due.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
