Jesus came not just to start the job of salvation, but to finish it. In His earthly life he came to save, but then He return in judgment of those who betrayed Him. Thus, the old covenant was completed in Him and destroyed so that the New Covenant could flourish.
This is essential to understanding that we are not just saved, but fully restored to a full relationship with God just as it was before the fall. There is nothing left to wait for. Jesus as fulfilled it ALL.
Jesus has not returned yet. There is not a single verse in the Bible you can point to that says so, every single verse referring to his return tells us it is yet to come.
