It’s rather unfair to lay all the damage of the 30 Years War on Luther. It began as a religious war but quickly degenerated into competition by the great powers of the day for domination of Europe. By the end of the War it was Hapsburgs down and France and Sweden up.

The 30 years war was a price to pay. The alternative was a catholic dominated Europe.
