Cdl Wuerl: People Alone Decide Whether to Receive the Sacraments

"Parishioners are responsible for the judgment of the state of their soul before God"

WASHINGTON (ChurchMilitant.com) - Cardinal Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C. is informing his priests and seminarians that in implementing Amoris Laetitia, the laity alone are culpable for their own moral choices, which include if and when to receive the sacraments.

In three interventions this month regarding the papal exhortation on marriage, the archbishop of Washington is focusing on the role of each parishioner's conscience while saying nothing of the priest's role to safeguard against sacrilegious reception of Holy Communion per canon 915, which forbids those in a state of manifest, grave sin to approach to receive the Eucharist.

Speaking to his seminarians January 21, Cdl. Wuerl told them they should as future priests affirm the moral decisions of their flock. He emphasized, "Pastoral dialogue [involves] the development of conscience and also the expression of a level of support or confirmation for the judgment the individual is making about the state of his or her own soul."

Priest's should help form consciences of the laity, the cardinal told his seminarians and their priestly formators. "But the actual judgment of conscience and therefore the culpability before God for a specific action belongs to the individual," he added.

Protestant norm. A few “fence the table”, but to assure basic faith.

This guy has been an open heretic for years. So Pope Francis promotes him to Cardinal. Not a surprise, I’m afraid. The Church is the Church, and I will continue in it until I die, God willing. But what really disturbs me about all this nonsense is how many potential or former Catholics have been driven out of the Church, and their souls put in danger, by these idiot “leaders.”

Anyone can fool the priest.

Ultimately it between the person taking communion and God.

The ones I have been around have been to warn those who are living in unrepentant sin to repent before partaking in communion.

The Church, per Paul’s admonition, has always tried to prevent people from bringing judgment upon themselves by receiving Christ, in the sacraments, unworthily. Essentially, everything, of whatsoever kind, is between people and the their judgment with God, so why even preach the Ten Commandments.

Donna wants his fag friends to be able to receive Communion without having to repent of their sins.

Wuerl is a bald-faced liar. He has told this lie repeatedly, and he has been corrected repeatedly—most notably by Cardinal Burke, and by Dr. Ed Peters.

At this point, there can be no doubt: Wuerl is a deliberate, obstinate liar.

Canon 915 MANDATES Denial of Communion when a person is obstinately persisting in MANIFEST, GRAVE sin.

I.e., the “state of the soul,” has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Wuerl has been peddling his lie for more than a decade. He peddled it in interviews during the two sin-nods.

This is what Ed Peters has called attention to repeatedly: pretending that can. 915 does not exist.

This lie is found also in Amoris Laetitia. The Pope says that adulterers who FEEL that they are not in the state of mortal may receive absolution and Communion. That’s what in the notorious footnotes.

“so why even preach the Ten Commandments.”

I don’t know your heart nor does your priest. All we can do is preach/teach the truth and what they do with it is all on them.

I have done my duty to God and taught the truth and since Jesus didn’t force them neither will I.

Old saying... you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t force them to drink.

1 Corinthians 11:28
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

Notice examine himself not you examine him...

1 Corinthians 11:29
For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.

Also that he drinks judgement to himself.

“per Paul’s admonition, has always tried to prevent people from bringing judgment upon themselves by receiving Christ, in the sacraments, unworthily.”

He didn’t try to prevent anyone from bringing judgement upon themselves he taught them the truth by the Scripture. They made their choice and determined their eternal status.

“receiving Christ”
That is salvation sir not condemnation your words are rcc for sure and a abomination to God. Receiving Christ is to be saved and filled with the Holy Spirit of God.

You mean receiving the bread and wine which is done in remembrance of His death and the fulfillment of the Eternal Covenant of God from Genesis.

Benedict made Wuerl a Cardinal in 2010. Saint John Paul II made him a bishop in 1986, even though he was already a notorious homosexual.

There is no destruction and chaos that Bergoglio is wreaking on the Church that is happening without the aid of Saint John Paul and Benedict, and their almost perfect negligence with respect to the appointment of bishops and Cardinal. Both of them appointed many bishops and Cardinals because of MONEY.

Saying at Saint Paul’s seminary in Pittsburgh, when Fr. Donald Wuerl was rector: “You can’t get through Saint Paul’s without a twirl with Wuerl.”

Denial of Communion in those cases specified by Canon 915 has absolutely nothing to do with the would-be communicant’s conscience or the “state of his soul,” as Wuerl likes to put it.

Canon 915 is about FACTS. Is the person obstinately persisting in MANIFEST grave sin? Then the minister of Communion is FORBIDDEN to give it to him. If he does, the MINISTER of Communion commits a mortal sin.

Wuerl is a liar. He lies about Canon Law, the moral law, and practically anything else he talks about.

Canon 915 is concerned ONLY with grave sins that EVERYONE knows about. In all other cases, Communion is to be given.

This is how he rationalizes giving communion to Pelosi, Biden, Leahy, Mikulski, etc., etc.
