Catechism of the Catholic Church

2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

Proverbial preaching to the choir.

The other day, in another thread, I posted a not entirely short discussion about sin. Part of what I wrote is:

“Consider for a moment that there is sin that people do, sin that people have been misled to believe is okay, sin that people now believe is both right and good, and finally sin that is somehow seen as a vital component of how someone views their identity, or who they fundamentally are.

“Each step up the chain ratchets up what must be surrendered to repent.”

Here I will point out that of all sins homosexuality seems, at least in our time (if not in all times for all I know) one of the few sins that people seem wrap their whole sense of self up in, so that it becomes their identity.

Even to the point that it may not be an abuse to go further to say it is not merely something about them but they became something about it.

It is kinda like the man with the puppet in that story (by Lewis), for it starts off that the man has the puppet, and even while the saint in the story seeks to reach out to the man, and beseech him, the man dwindles and the puppet grows till the puppet has literally devoured the man and the man is no more.

How many seem to have been consumed by homosexuality till it determines, by relation of everything to it, their every attitude?

And, yes, all sexual sin is bad and we are to flee it as surely as Joseph fled from Potiphar’s wife.
