[[Benedict and Francis “in complete disagreement”, “never talk to one another”]]

How humble of them

How can they both be infallible if they disagree

Neither one of them has invoked papal infallibility.

That said, Pope Benedict stands squarely within the Magisterium (as he teaches within the Tradition) and Francis, much more unstable, teeters in and out of it.

I don't think any of Francis' published works have Magisterial authority as a whole. I'm thinking particularly of the erratic Laudato Si (the so-called ecology encyclical) and Amoris Laetitia, which potentially scrambles the entirety of Catholic Moral Law by introducing an incoherent element of "situation ethics" into every moral judgment.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting.

I surely hope Benedict doesn’t end up with his throat cut.

I don’t believe Benedict did resign. He was deposed. He, IMO, is virtually kept in a fancy jail while Catholicism is being re-written and/or reinterpreted.

What a shock! Not. Benedict was an actual theologian. Francis is merely a progressive politician.

That's strange.

Ganswein says Benedict and Francis are as close as brothers and full of mutual admiration.

I just did a little research and yes, the following are true:

The Vatican’s international monetary transactions were halted on January 1, 2013. Their bank was essentially shut down along with all Vatican ATMs.

The Vatican’s international monetary transactions were resumed on February 12, 2013, the day after Benedict XVI announced his resignation.

I don’t think Benedict lives at the Vatican anymore. My recollection is that he is at some villa and is visited by Francis once in a while.

Now the group of Catholic leaders have sent a letter to President Trump urging him to launch an official investigation into the activities of George Soros, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton (and others) who they allege were involved in orchestrating Catholic Spring that resulted in their goal of “regime change” in the Vatican.

“Podesta, a longtime Clinton adviser/confidante and hand-picked top activist for left-wing funder George Soros, revealed in a 2011 e-mail that he and other activists were working to effect a “Catholic Spring” revolution within the Catholic Church

I have always suspected that they were diametrically opposed to one another.

Infallible statements have to do with only faith and morals.

And A. L. is only an apostolic exhortation — not an encyclical.

Thanks Melian. You’re quite right: he’s currently living at the monastery of Mater Ecclesiae.

While checking that out, I discovered something else - another apparent superficiality that speaks volumes as to the continuation of Benedict’s Papacy.

When a Pope leaves office his gold ring - known as the Fisherman’s ring - is smashed with a specially designed silver hammer. This is because objects strictly tied to the ministry of St Peter must be destroyed - to avoid any confusion.

But Benedict XVI’s ring has not been destroyed. The insignia on Benedict XVI’s ring has merely been scratched with a cross so that it can be kept ‘for posterity’.

Thank you for the Wikileaks link in your post 34.

It really looks to be the case that Obama and Soros have engineered a silent coup to topple Benedict and install the Fishy Fisherman.

I humbly recommend that American FReepers read the Remnant letter to President Trump and then follow up with their own message to the White House.

May God bless you.
