I listened to Walter Martin nearly every day and then when he passed away, Hannegraff did a hostile takeover of the show. Hannegraff was completely unqualified to be the “Bible Answer Man” as he didn’t know the Bible or understand it.
Martin was a treasure. Hannegraff was an imposter.
You are correct. I have an older pastor I’m close friends with who knew Walter Martin. He described the way he took over the ministry and his treatment of Dr. Martin’s widow as shameful.
Another thing about Hank, he has refused financial accountability. I stopped listening, or paying attention to his books, 20-25 years ago, so that criticism may have changed.
Spot on with your post.
Hank is a total loon.
“I listened to Walter Martin nearly every day and then when he passed away, Hannegraff did a hostile takeover of the show.”
I remember Martin’s “Kingdom of the Cults”. He defended the faith against heresy.
Then I remember Hanegraaff getting into critiquing Christian ministries with which he disagreed on something.
There is no need for such a “ministry”.
That is exactly how I remember it. The people who worked at CRI must have been completely flummoxed. I stopped listening.
There is a reason Hank Hanegraaff is hardly mentioned even in posts over the course of over 20 years on FR. That Hank converted to the EOs is actually an argument against being one.
“Martin was a treasure. Hannegraff was an imposter.”
