Someday Christ will return to establish His kingdom and reign in peace for eternity.

And there is the rub. We live in a nation of rights. We have no concept of kingship. We rebel at the thoughts of a king.

So what does it mean to live in a kingdom? All your rights are from the king and subject to the king. Sound familiar? The major reference I can think of today is our founding fathers.

Now the is another aspect of kingdom. The king can say , “off with his head”, he has that much legal right and power. Any one like that idea? Of course we are talking about a perfect kingdom here, with a perfect King. But the characteristics of kingdom are still real. It is his sovereign holy position as king and we are all rebels.

“..........thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...........”

I think many like the idea of peace, not the kingdom.
