Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
Isaiah
Isaiah 9
9 [a]Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the nations, by the Way of the Sea, beyond the Jordan
2 The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of deep darkness
a light has dawned.
3 You have enlarged the nation
and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as warriors rejoice
when dividing the plunder.
4 For as in the day of Midians defeat,
you have shattered
the yoke that burdens them,
the bar across their shoulders,
the rod of their oppressor.
5 Every warriors boot used in battle
and every garment rolled in blood
will be destined for burning,
will be fuel for the fire.
6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on Davids throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.
The Lords Anger Against Israel
8 The Lord has sent a message against Jacob;
it will fall on Israel.
9 All the people will know it
Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria
who say with pride
and arrogance of heart,
10 The bricks have fallen down,
but we will rebuild with dressed stone;
the fig trees have been felled,
but we will replace them with cedars.
11 But the Lord has strengthened Rezins foes against them
and has spurred their enemies on.
12 Arameans from the east and Philistines from the west
have devoured Israel with open mouth.
Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,
his hand is still upraised.
13 But the people have not returned to him who struck them,
nor have they sought the Lord Almighty.
14 So the Lord will cut off from Israel both head and tail,
both palm branch and reed in a single day;
15 the elders and dignitaries are the head,
the prophets who teach lies are the tail.
16 Those who guide this people mislead them,
and those who are guided are led astray.
17 Therefore the Lord will take no pleasure in the young men,
nor will he pity the fatherless and widows,
for everyone is ungodly and wicked,
every mouth speaks folly.
Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,
his hand is still upraised.
18 Surely wickedness burns like a fire;
it consumes briers and thorns,
it sets the forest thickets ablaze,
so that it rolls upward in a column of smoke.
19 By the wrath of the Lord Almighty
the land will be scorched
and the people will be fuel for the fire;
they will not spare one another.
20 On the right they will devour,
but still be hungry;
on the left they will eat,
but not be satisfied.
Each will feed on the flesh of their own offspring[b]:
21 Manasseh will feed on Ephraim, and Ephraim on Manasseh;
together they will turn against Judah.
Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,
his hand is still upraised.

King of Kings,
and Lord of Lords!
Thank You, LORD,
For For being Our Wonderful Counselor,
The Only One Who Listens, when everyone else turns away.
Indeed, Our Everlasting Father,
Who has us engraved upon the palms of Your Hands.
The "father of lies" accuses Your people day and night.
We pray for an end to the slander!
You, Father, are our Provision,
Our Security,
Our Prosperity,
and Our Future.
We are nothing without You.
With This in Mind,
We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection and
Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.
We Pray that the Terrible practice of Abortion will be brought to an end,
Both in Our own Country and in Israel.
We Pray that every Child that is conceived will be cherished and loved.
We Pray that no child shall be taught the ways of terrorism,
and that all will have a chance to learn the Truth.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
This Chapter has so much in it that it is hard to know where to begin. The region of Galilee, though very much included in the borders of Israel, was considered to be much less "spiritual" than Jerusalem and its immediate neighbors. Called "Galilee of the Gentiles", it was the object of derision, and her people were considered rustic and unsophisticated. People made jokes about the area, much like New Yorkers sometimes make jokes about people from West Virginia or the Ozarks. One of these jokes surfaces in the Gospels (Can anything GOOD come from Nazareth?), and the Pharisees, when arguing over who was the Messiah, said "Look it up! You will see that the Messiah does NOT come from Nazareth!". When Peter was in the High Priest's Courtyard, and denied Jesus, even the servants knew he was from Galilee because of his "rustic" accent!
Yes. The Prophet Micah said that the Messiah would be BORN in Bethlehem. However, here, in an unmistakably Messianic Passage, Isaiah speaks of the region to the North, in the area allotted to Zebulon and Naphtali, "Galilee of the Gentiles". A reading of the Gospel of Matthew explains how that came about. Messiah was indeed born in Bethlehem. But then a series of events involving Rome, Herod, Egypt, Angels, Dreams, and the biggest Empire in the known world at the time, brought Him to Nazareth, and eventually, to Galilee of the Gentiles.
The magnificent Prophecy, "Unto us a Child is Born" in in this Chapter, with several Wonderful Names of God.

That's amazing, M-L, I never knew it was referred to as the Galilee of the Gentiles.
Handel's song to Is. 9:6 is such a classic favorite! Thank you for today's presentation! God love Your People today!

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM! And for the Preservation of the Valiant Israeli Nation!
|
|
EVERTHELESS the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.
2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. |
3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.
9 And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
10 The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars.
11 Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together;
12 The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
13 For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts.
14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.
15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
17 Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18 For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.
19 Through the wrath of the LORD of hosts is the land darkened, and the people shall be as the fuel of the fire: no man shall spare his brother.
20 And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm:
21 Manasseh, Ephraim; and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

Wonderful place of prayer and instruction, LTOS. Thank you and amen.
Numbers 6:23 Say to Aaron and his sons, This is the way you shall bless the Israelites. Say to them, The Lord bless you and watch, guard, and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious (kind, merciful, and giving favor) to you; The Lord lift up His [approving] countenance upon you and give you peace (tranquility of heart and life continually). And they shall put My name upon the Israelites, and I will bless them.
And this we do, proclaim and agree in Jesus name. Amen.

Judaism seems obsessed with wine. We take wine at nearly every spiritual event: Weddings, circumcisions, Shabbats, and festivals. Why do we take wine at these times?
http://www.betemunah.org/wine.html
Galilee The Galilee, Galil in Hebrew, is the best appellation, situated in the north of Israel. This comprises Israels two finest quality wine growing regions, the Upper Galilee and the Golan Heights. These are high altitude, cooler climate vineyards planted comparatively recently. The Golan Heights is really a different geographical region to the Galilee but in wine law, it is registered as a sub region of the Galilee. The Upper Galilee is a mountainous area of forests, plunging peaks and stony ridges. It is Israels most beautiful vineyard region. The soils are heavy, but well drained.
>>>
The area of vineyards in the Lower Galilee is situated at Kfar Tabor, near Mount Tabor. Here elevations are 200 to 400 meters. Soils vary between volcanic and limestone. Precipitation ranges from 400 500 mm a year. Tabor Winery is the main winery of this area. However, only just over 10% of the Galilees vineyards lie in the Lower Galilee.

Water to wine:
John 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
2 The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;
"Wine is related to daat, knowledge. Both maintain excellence only in humble containers. Both get better with age. Wine, and associated products, is the only substance on earth that gets better with age. Wine, and the sod, the secret level of Torah, both have the same gematria,[4] which is why the Sages teach that when wine goes in the secret comes out

You’ve gotta love the allusion to wine and secrets and the Galilee region of wine production.
Anything good from there? :)

Yes...that was a surprise to me. And I was there back in the early 80’s. I did see vineyards, but nothing on the scale of California or New York State. But then...bigger is not always “better”!

The wine is a great metaphor especially in these days with everyone wound up and agitated about the 'end times'. People are freaking out about every little thing. Prince of Peace = chill out with the wine (knowledge).
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

As promised, as we pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, we are blessed. I am blessed with today’s lesson as well as prayer. When I went to Israel as a volunteer with Sar-El/VFI, we were to be assigned a certain military barrack to do our service. The LORD placed me in the Galilee. All Glory and Honor is YOURS Oh GOD, may Peace be upon Jerusalem, Thy people Israel, and those saints for whom YOU have given the GOSPEL to each among the children as we see YOU draw near.
