“But why no funeral?”

They could take that one very far. those who were divorced, those who had abortions, those who were gay, those who had pre-marital sex......

We all sinned, but it is their Church, and their right and responsibity to interpret their own beliefs, standards and rules.

Catholics don’t simply believe it is “their” Church, but it is the one true Church founded by the Christ and as recited in the Credo at every Catholic Mass.

Perhaps you missed this condition for no funeral:
"if they died without showing signs of repentance"

It's not a question of people who "were" adulterers, fornicators, or gossips, perjurers, rioters, extortionists or cheats. It's a question of manifest, unrepentant, grave sin.

Manifest means "in your face."

A person who contracts a "gay" "marriage" is claiming a manifest, official, public legal and social status predicated on sodomy. Repentance is necessary.

If there's no repentance, there should be no Catholic funeral. In practice, this means, for instance, that open Mafia guys and MS-13 should not receive ecclesiastic rites. And (where canon law is faithfully observed) they don't.
