As hard as it can be to accept, but Catholic schools, parish schools trace to Archbishop John Highes and his steadfast belief that his people’s children were being led astray by the overtly Protestant bias of the New York public schools. Therefore it is not hard to grasp that the diocese of Providence and the pastor and parish council of Sacred Heart might understand the muslim community’s desire to educate their young in a non public school.
