Each day I am astounded at the Glory of God's Creation, and the mere thought that He Created such wonders gives me hope that He is Able to Bring About a Miracle in the Future. If God is for us, who can stand against us?

We pray for the Repentance, Restoration, and Renewal of Our Beloved Nation.

Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, "I have no delight in them"

The Heavens declare Your Glory in the icy realms of Space!
Your Amazing Inventiveness and Creativity is celebrated in each strand of the DNA Molecule,
And in Each Sub-Atomic particle that is seen only by the light-speed trail that it leaves behind!
Your Incredible Variety that ensures that even identical twins have DIFFERENT Personalities,
And all humans having different fingerprints, voice prints, and eye configurations.
Every snowflake...every grain of sand,
All the work of your Magnificent Mind, and created by the Word of Your Mouth.
There is NOBODY Like You in the Universe!

According to your Will and Promise.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

"The Pillars of Creation" Hubble Telescope Image

Santa brought me my first Telescope. It stood on three legs and looked very scientific. It had a smaller telescope mounted on top, so that one could know where to aim the big one. Since stars only looked marginally bigger through the telescope, I looked mostly at the Moon, which came to life through the eyepiece. I was hooked. The Dad took us kids to the Planetarium. It was WONDERFUL, and made me love the idea of reaching for the Stars. Then, The President said we were going to send a man to the Moon, and return him safely to Earth! My excitement built when Dad brought home a piece of the material that was used to make Echo 1, Bell Lab's first satellite. He dared me to rip the little square of Mylar, and it took me over a week of messing with it before it finally tore. Dad then took me out into the back yard and we were able to watch Echo 1 move across the sky!

Our Second Grade classroom watched with baited breath as Alan Shepherd was the First American in Space (we were still smarting a bit that the Rooskies did it first), and we prayed together with Miss Marcus that he would be safely recovered. I wanted to be the First Female Astronaut but Valentina Tereshkova and Sally Ride both beat me to it. (So I ended up being a Bass-Playing, Harley-Riding, Freeper instead! LOL!)

However, I am still fascinated by Space, "The Final Frontier". I love to look at the Hubble Images, and I love (good) Science Fiction. I am becoming more and more disappointed in movies of that genre, however, because the special effects are nearly all being done on computer these days. Gone are the days of the incredible creativity it took to make medical instruments out of saltshakers (Star Trek TOS), or elaborate space ship models (The Original Star Wars), or hand-drawn animation (Forbidden Planet). CGI has produced amazing effects at the click of a mouse...but where is the creativity. As my little brother once said to me, "Give me a good SFX guy, a fine make-up artist, and a good Stunt man, and I will beat CGI any day of the week!"

What both my brother and I bemoan in the prevalence of CGI is not the lack of quality, but the lack of the amount of creativity required to produce the effect. Your opinion might be different, but I have noticed that I am not so much "into Sci-Fi" anymore. Part of the fun was trying to figure out HOW they produced the effect, and that fun is no longer there. Oh Well.

When God created us in His Own Image, He gave us Creativity. That Creativity has been the engine of Civilization, Culture, Art, Music, Drama, Architecture, you name it. Cultures that do not celebrate creativity become stultified, regimented, and stagnant. Even a cursory look at "The Arts" during the Stalinist or Nazi eras show what happens when Creativity is under the thumb of the State. The style of Architecture of this oppressive state has now come to be known as "Brutalism" and is aptly named. The Spark of Creativity, gifted to us by the Creator of the Universe, is what makes Life on Planet Earth bearable.

Concise! The other side can't ever keep up with God-based ingenuity. All it can attempt to do is compensate by deception and subterfuge. If it had any valid ideas, it could present them openly. It wouldn't need to pretend to be something it is not.

You know it's bad when fake sci-fi is more 'real' because it's fake, which means people lose interest because it's no longer fake, which is what told us it was real. :-/

Maybe that's why Galaxy Quest was so funny. Re the air on the alien planet:
