"Not to put too fine a point on it, but this amounted to the bishops giving the middle finger to Pope Francis."LOL!
Also, Fr. John Zuhlsdorf said, "212 bishops participated in a 'practice' vote. 178 voted on the matter of this committee. So, 34 abstained."
Not sure what "practice vote" means, but the total who voted was the same. Interesting that 34 abstained. Who? And why?
Dang.
Headline had me hoping for an actual "Nicholas of Myra vs. Arius" style beating ...
Thank God
You took the words out of my mouth. Thank God.
Sheep in sheep's clothing.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but.... HOORAY!
One small victory to add, since the Dubia.
This is sure to piss off Bergoglio. The 34 who abstained were scared to vote one way or the other. Cowards. Look for Bergoglio to call for another vote because he didnt get his way.
It is extremely disappointing to find that Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas was elected for any leadership of the USCCB. His irresponsible and dangerous handling of sexual abuse cases in the Archdiocese should have disqualified him for any leadership position. Rather than nominating him for a position of leadership, the Conference should be consulting with Rome on his replacement.
Hes still better than Cupich. When he got to Spokane the Bishop White Seminary was thrieving. When he left a few years later their was one seminarian left. Cupich made no effort to recruit new pastors in the church.
Mighty big accusations -- any proof to back them up?
BTTT!
**This means 82 bishops voted for Cupich, with 96 bishops supporting Naumann.**
I have to say I'm surprised. Maybe opposition to Francis is greater than I'd imagined.
34 cowards. Trying to give every soul some modicum of benefit for their “doubt”, the best I could come up with was a sincerely confused conscience. Pondering that excuse, (or benefit of their doubt) became SHORTLY thereafter laughable.
There is no excuse, no sincerity, no confusion. There may possibly be even no conscience at all.
I try to say to my self that the priesthood of bishops and cardinals have also been victims, as well, just as the laity have been, who are being starved to death from lack of care and feeding of their faith! These Shepherds have either never been catechized at all, or poorly so, and left critically ignorant of Church history, the rich Tradition of the Church and of the Early Fathers, etc., etc., or they have simply chosen apostasy.
Can it be possible they are this ignorant?
I know there were problems in Kansas City, MO, but I was not aware of anything in Kansas City, KS.
You advance ecclesially by avoiding confrontation.
