Pelosi Invokes Catholic Faith to Defend Illegals, But Not to Protect Unborn, Nuns

Wednesday, during her House filibuster in support of protecting people illegally in the U.S., particular minors (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or “DACA”), Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) invoked her Catholic faith:

"Maybe I should bring my rosary blessed by the pope... his holiness, Pope Francis, or the one before that, Benedict," she added. "I have the honor and privilege of receiving rosaries blessed by several popes in my lifetime."

She goes on to quote Pope Benedict and Saint Augustine on just government and the dangers of power. But, Pelosi has a long history of rejecting Catholic Church doctrine when it comes to issues like abortion and protection of the unborn.

Pelosi has been repeatedly rebuked by bishops, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and Catholic groups like the Catholic League for her pro-abortion stance. She has returned fire, calling bishops “lobbyists” – because they opposed an Obamacare mandate that violates Catholic teaching – and she has taken on nuns (The Little Sisters of the Poor) who sued to protect their religious freedom:

No matter how many Rosaries blessed by a true Pope or a fraud you receive, you will never be anything else than a CINO, even I a lapsed Catholic can see that you march to orders given by something other than our LORD, pray for yourself Nancy, you need the help.

She’s a Cafeteria Catholic. Most of us know one or have been one at some point in time.

“I have the honor and privilege of receiving rosaries blessed by several popes in my lifetime.”

Well aren’t you the righteous one, your highness.

The “woman” has no shame whatsoever.

Nor for that matter does the Catholic diocese that does not excommunicate her.

Simple. The aborted babies will never vote and there aren’t enough nuns to be concerned about how they vote.

It is long past time to deal with this woman according to Canon 915. It is scandalous to Catholics, and indeed sickening to all decent people, that she habitually invokes her professed “faith” as cover for loathsome political ambitions that are utterly incompatible with Christian principles. This is only the most recent such occasion; only four years ago she defended late-term abortion as “sacred.”

The “woman” has no shame whatsoever. Nor for that matter does the Catholic diocese that does not excommunicate her.

Nor the popes who gave her the blessed rosaries.

Why would they honor her with her track record with something like that?

Honestly, I would expect that her being in the presence of a cross would have the same effect on her as the guy in Raiders of the Lost Ark when he drank out of the wrong chalice.

Yep, I guess we were meant to see that with the temptation of Jesus in the Gospels.

The description is fully correct.
Except for one detail.
When confronted by Catholic rules these individuals do not like, many such people will simply pretend there is no such rule. It’s called passive aggression or passive rebellion.

I’m guessing that hasn’t been done because her dual-diocese status makes it possible for Wuerl or Cordeleone. No doubt they’re arguing over who should get the honor! ;)
