One of Canada’s largest liability insurance companies wants the Roman Catholic diocese of London, Ont., to return $10 million paid to the diocese for settlements to victims sexually abused by priests.

AXA Insurance, now owned by Intact Financial Corp., accuses the diocese of hiding pedophile priests by moving them to different parishes or duties for decades, thereby misleading the insurance company and exposing it to greater financial risk.

The pope is too busy denigrating gun owners to be concerned with such things.

After Sylvestre’s trial in 2006, the London diocese revealed it had found — in the back of a diocese filing cabinet — the Sarnia police reports from 1962.

A few thoughts:

1) The insurance company didn’t do their due diligence with public records nor did they ask the insured about the risk?

2) Even thought I can see both sides, I think it is good to shine the light on the situation.

If they lied to their insurance company, they are going to have to write that ten million dollar check.

A further thought.

3) After the first few of these I would suspect the insurance company increased the cost to cover their increase risk.

Insurance contracts are governed by the legal doctrine of Uberrimae Fidei. The insured must disclose all relevant information to the insurer so that they can properly assess the risk they are assuming. If the diocese knew about these pedophile priests they had an obligation to disclose the fact.

I as a taxpayer want US tax dollars returned for Rome's business of human trafficking. (They call it charity.) The libtards blame Russia for election interference, but totally ignore how much Rome messed with our election.

If asked. My insurance co doesn’t ask me if I have smoke detectors, and I haven’t told them. But it might be in the fine print.

Mrs. L is in the insurance business. If you’ve got smoke and CO detectors you should tell your agent. You’ll likely get lower rates.

Yes! I want the church to FINALLY own up to this filth.
My patience is thin with our fraudulent government and all the dirt bags getting away with their countless actions. Harder to see any hope these days. The ‘kill the nra’ is outrageous!

Always remember God said I will never leave you nor forsake you... Too many have left Him and forsaken Him, claiming Jesus name. There is nothing new under the sun... Every day moves closer to when Jesus will once again, symbolically speaking, cleanse His temple again.
