Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.(Exodus 20:2-6)

From Genesis to Revelation, one of the themes of the Bible, is that God loves mankind, but we people are faithless to him as a race. The prophets and Jesus himself decried a”wicked and adulterous generation”.

The Holy God relates to us in a variety of ways. For example, The LORD is our Shepherd, and God is our King, as well as our Judge, our teacher and guide.

The wedding parables are based upon the assumption that God is the husband to his covenant people as well. The Book of Exodus, for example portrays a wedding at Sinai, the cloud being the Covering for the Bride and Groom, and much of the Words read like a marriage agreement between Jahweh and his people. God is jealous for the affection and devotion of his people.

Observe thou that which I command thee this day: behold, I drive out before thee the Amorite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite. Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods. (Exodus 34:11-16)

The God of the covenant demanded absolute faithfulness in worship, while at the same time insisting upon absolute monogamy and chastity among his people. In doing so God equates idolatry with Adultery. Thus religious sins are the cause of actual physical skins, and a person’s view of fidelity to God, will be reflected in their views of marital or premarital chastity.

Because God is like a faithful husband to his people, there was to be absolutely no mixture of worship with the pagan gods. Nor should there be intermarriage with Pagans, nor debasing into the other sexual practices which the idolatrous Canaanites had long since descended into and considered to be commonplace. The two issues are parallel, they go together.

The passage I have cited above comes on the heels of the golden calf incident, in which the newly married nation immediately succumbed to the sin of idolatry. Israel was to recognize the tendency within themselves to fall into idolatry and take great pains to guard against it. They were to possess the promised land and to cut down the sacred groves, destroy their altars and break their gods, and reserve worship for God alone.

The Church should pay close heed to the experience of Israel, because many of our most influential leaders, and popular communicators lead multitudes of confessing Christians into the same tendencies, i.e. making peace with false religions, promoting “interfaith” outreaches, or the appalling attempt to find common religious ground with Islam, (We do not worship the same God, Allah is the Devil).

The Spirit of the Age is Multi-culturalism, which constitutes an attack on the West and most notably the Judeo Christian West, for behind the ready and unthinking acceptance of any and ever third world culture, religion , literature, art and even fashion, lies a visceral rejection of the Judeo Christian revelation and the culture which it have rise to.

Scripture is adamant, that any other spirituality is demonic. All other “gods” are demons, and any kind of spiritual mutuality among Christians is idolatry, Spiritual adultery. When Israel served foreign idols, she committed adultery, she gave herself to demons and not God!

They did not destroy the peoples, as the Lord commanded them, but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did. They served their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood (Psalm 106:34-38).

They stirred him to jealousy with strange gods; with abominations they provoked him to anger. They sacrificed to demons that were no gods, to gods they had never known (Deut 32:16-17).

When Christians practice Yoga,(Hinduism) or Transcendental Meditation,(Hinduism), they are involving themselves in the gods of the Hindus. When they participate in “Chrislam”, the fall ecumenism between some Christian groups and Muslims, they are committing spiritual adultery. The Pope of the Catholic church seeks to bring all religions into a kind of unity. This is Adultery of the highest order, it is the same as the very worst of the idolatry of the books of Kings and Chronicles in the Old Testament.

The beginning of the word of the Lord by Hosea. And the Lord said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the Lord. So he went and took Gomer the daughter of Diblaim; which conceived, and bare him a son.( Hosea 1:1-3)

One of the earliest “wedding Parables” was a live action drama, performed in real life, by the Prophet Hosea. God literally commanded him to marry a harlot to demonstrate his grief at the faithlessness of his people Israel. More , next article

Do not hear this Preached much anymore. In John 7 some turned back and quit walking with him , because the sayings or teachings were to hard for them. Thanks
