Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem
The beloved American Holiday of Thanksgiving has its legendary "dark side", having to do with WHERE the Feast will be held. I was in a "mixed marriage", so the other other holidays were easy: Christmas, Easter, and Sunday Dinner at Mom's, and Passover, Chanukha, Rosh Hashana at MIL's. Mothers Day was a traveling day, Boston in the Morning and The North Shore in the Evening. It was OK because Mothers' Day was not a "Feast" Day. Mothers should not be in the kitchen on Mothers' Day!
But. Thanksgiving. There was a problem. Thanksgiving was a sit-down Feast and required an all-day attendance. Both Moms would get angry if the other was "chosen". It became a bone of contention every year, and threatened the family peace.
Finally, we came up with the solution. There was a large Nursing Home in Southie that had a big Thanksgiving Dinner every year. Hubby and I brought my sound equipment and keyboard, and I provided music. We had a nice dinner with the elderly, and it took up the whole afternoon. Then we went to each of our parent's homes for dessert and coffee. Although it involved Boston Airport Traffic via the pre-Big-Dig morass on the busiest travel day of the year, it was worth it to keep the peace!
One wonders, however, how the simple holiday of Thanksgiving became the epicenter of "Family Issues". It is famous, and has been the subject of comedy routines and movies for many years. Could it be that the original concept of Thanking God for His Providence has turned into a showcase of excess, and thus obscured the original intent? And could it be that because of this, it has become "An Ostentatious Feast" like this one in Ancient Persia, complete with "Family Issues" on full display?
Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.
"Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth. Hosea 6:3 NIV

We solved the holiday thing with Thanksgiving at one parents and Christmas at the other.
Then the following year, we switched. Thanksgiving and Christmas were both with the one we didn’t do it with the year before.
We just alternated.
Where does this story fall into the timeline of Daniel and the captivity of the Jews?
It’s hard to go by names because it often depends on which language is being spoken, what the rulers name is.
