300 priests and 299 are probably “gay.”

A sexual offender is a sexual offender, priest minister or not.

In fact the abuse in non-Catholic churches is higher than that for priests.

It’s like the corruption in government, because the Catholic church leadership is first and foremost a financial and political organization. Power and wealth lays at the top and they will protect their memberships and corrupted Priesthood.

These are criminals hiding behind the Priesthood and those who shelter them. There will be very few actually prosecuted for their crimes. They ‘talk’ a lot about cleaning things up but the evidence is weak they are doing so.

Link to video. (half an hour long.)

He's so sorry. But that doesn't mean that the laity won't be called upon to pay for the legal settlements. No mention of any of the perpetrators being laicised or excommunicated but they will all have their names removed from "places of honor".

It depends on how many Parishes there are in each Diocese. That amount will differ for each.

As a Catholic, and a realist, I find 300 priests in six dioceses a dubious number. 300 out of how many total?
There is a history of priests being defamed just because they are easy targets.
God knows the totality of the damage wrought by the guilty ones, but I'll hold my judgement until I see some trial transcripts.
The lure of easy money is enough to tempt a weak man into a false accusation.

Someone has to ask this question:

How much responsibility does the Catholic Church and its deviant priests bear for the crisis in sexual identity the US faces today? Besides the very bad example and the young children whose lives were negatively impacted, the Church has no believable moral voice on the issue.

It’s called a coven not a diocese.

Yep.

These aren't "holy men of God" that succumbed to sin.

They are homosexuals and pedophiles masquerading as priests.

The Catholic Church, which is the cornerstone of Judeo Christian Western morality and, hence, civilization had to be destroyed and they are doing it from within.

Same thing with the Boy Scouts.

The Church let the fox into the henhouse in the 60s when it allowed homosexual but non practicing men openly into the priesthood...

Yes, sexual abuse of children happened prior to that, it happens in any organization that has access to children sadly... but that’s when the flood gates opened. Since then, men trade favors and sex and other things for promotions and power, and drive out anyone who will confront them.

Some diocese are literally little more than bath houses when the doors are closed.

“..1960s, it unintentionally opened the seminaries to the pedophiles.”

I don’t believe there was anything unintentional about it.

How often to the people who are targets of grand juries actually get to address the grand jury? I kind of thought the answer was "never".

True, but grand jury finding are usually sealed until there is an indictment, at which time the defendant can confront his accusers and address the trial jury.

What about them?

It has seldom been the case that Freepers who want one filthy den of child predators cleaned up defend another group. The exception on this forum is the champions for aduld women who prey on underage boys.

I do not recall you ever debating against them on those threads Salvation. Show me where I have missed your defense of children there.

Predictable as the sunrise.

Oh, the old *Everyone else does it too so it’s OK for us cause we’re not as bad as everyone else*.

I have NEVER seen you condemn it in your own church.

Why not?

All I’ve ever seen you do is deflect the attention to someone else. And so the cover up continues.

Before you get too “Others do worse” here, I’ll point out the “Humiliation of the Southern Baptist Convention” was about a pastor, in the 60s, recommending a woman stay with an abusive husband. He also had the nerve to suggest teenage boys were normal in noticing a young woman’s beauty.

Oh...and he was fired.

How that is comparable to the Catholic problem with homosexual priests, I don’t know. Apart from sin being sin.

I recall a Catholic bishop in Atlanta who was publicly called out, removed, defrocked, and condemned for sexual misconduct.

His crime? He was found to be having an affair with a 28 year old single...WOMAN!!! Oh the huge manatee!!

it also opened the door for misfeasance towards women. How can a homosexual/predator priest who rejects women on several levels, who abuses their children, minister to women honestly and nondestructively? The silent crime that has been committed against the women of the church is almost if not as bad as that committed against the children.
