Good and evil have co-existed side by side since the time of Judas.
Nothing can change the historical realities of the Church’s foundation and the promises which were made to her by Jesus.
Those promises were never made to any earthly church.
And if you read Revelation, you will see God removes the candle of churches.
If the Church has no authority then neither does your Bible.
Funny, isn’t it, how many times these truths get explained and yet some continue to espouse their myths as if they had NEVER heard anything that disputes them?! That has to be willful blindness.
Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. (Luke 24:27)
You know, it DOES kinda sound like that!
If the Church has no authority then neither does your Bible.
Ive heard Romans assert this, and I believe you believe it...
But the authority of Scripture comes from Gods inspiration, and not any earthly source.
He chose Jews to receive inspiration via the Holy Spirit, to record His Word, to preserve His Word. It is internally consistent across 66 books. It is internally fulfilling over millennia.
Whether Rome fizzled out in 100 ad or 300 ad or 500 ad, God never changes and His Word will never pass away.
That's true, but the "church" in Scripture isn't the Roman Catholic church. The church is that body of believers, the redeemed, within the called-out assembly.
Good and evil have co-existed side by side since the time of Judas.
More like since the time of Adam and Eve!
Let me make sure I understand what you are saying here...the Holy Scriptures, the word of God, only has authority because the Roman Catholic church says it does? Seriously???
I know I’m a major gadfly.
So we’re in agreement then that it’s the teaching of the Apostles (who were taught by Jesus) and in the case of pre-Christ, the law and prophets that matters, yes?
How do you know that the Scriptures are the Word of God?
How do you know that the authority of Scripture comes from God's inspiration? Did it fall from heaven?
Mine was authored, assembled and canonized by men.
How do you know that the Scriptures are the Word of God?
***
...because the prophets and Apostles wrote them, and the prophets were inspired by God, and the Apostles were taught by Jesus?
How do you know that the authority of Scripture comes from God’s inspiration?
***
Because the Apostle Paul says so in his second letter to Timothy.
Circular argument.
Why aren't you a Muslim?
How do you know the Apostles and prophets were inspired by God? Because Scripture says so?
***
How do we know that your church is REALLY apostolic? Because your church says so? You’re questioning the direct words of the apostle Paul with that statement, you know.
Here’s my answer:
Because the Apostles were taught and sent out directly by Jesus, who is God.
And in their writings, the Apostles know that they’re speaking with the authority of Christ, especially when we see how Paul separates his personal advice from the Lord’s words in regards to marriage.
Now if you want to question the authority of our Lord, I can’t help you.
You’re treating Scripture as if it’s some kind of independent entity that has or doesn’t have authority on its own. But the reason that Scripture has authority is because it’s the teaching of the Apostles and prophets, which comes directly from the Lord.
All that's missing is the word "Church" which Christ founded on the Apostles and Peter "the rock". But at least we're talking about men......real people with authority.
They did foretell mass deception would come from some in Christ’s Holy Name.
