Prison Ministry Outreach - Dear Friends Perhaps you can help!

Dear Freepers, I wanted to share this with you,

It is our desire to be helpful to those in prison who indicate an interest in receiving spiritual help, even the good news of salvation centering in the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ, God's only Saviour. We also want to see these men and women continue in God's Word by means of personal Bible study.

From our experience, we have found that inmates often profit from doing Bible studies by way of correspondence. They have plenty of time to devote to Bible study and they also enjoy receiving mail.

We are presently working with hundreds of inmates throughout the country by way of our Bible correspondence course. A large number of these have completed hundreds and in some cases even thousands of pages of Bible study materials. Each prisoner receives a certificate upon completion of each course of study. Here are the courses we offer to inmates:

Perhaps you can help us. If you know of someone in prison or in a correctional institution, you may want to consider sending them the following document (which can easily be printed out from your computer):

Gospel of John Bible Study--If the inmate does not have a Bible, it might be necessary to also send him a copy of the Gospel of John (KJV version) which is all that he needs to complete this Bible Study. This brief Bible study exposes a person to God's plan of salvation using only verses found in the Gospel of John.

If the inmate completes this study and sends it back to us (as per the instructions), then we will correct it and send him the beginning of a much lengthier Bible study (Basic Doctrines, see above) dealing with such important subjects as the inspiration of the Bible, the sinfulness of man, salvation through Christ, justification, redemption, sanctification, holy living, eternal security, etc.

As long as the inmate completes the lesson and sends it back to us, he will continue to receive additional lessons. Some of our prisoners have done thousands of pages of Bible studies. Often we provide postage and envelopes for the inmates as well (as God provides and assuming the prison allows for such).

May many who are physically confined find spiritual deliverance and freedom from sin!

I have been a part of two prison ministries.

I highly encourage it for everyone. Go there and help lead a church service and you will understand.

Yes, know some who have been in and out including some family, sadly many do not want to repent and find their ETERNAL Creator’s pardon and love. However, the hundreds who partake of this ministry and what God has done in their lives through His Word and this correspondence is truly amazing! You can read some of their own words on the link.

All need to know the Savior!

I go to a great Mens group at Church of the King here in Mandeville , La. and the group is primarily re-entry guys from Angola Prison. I never miss the group and God is there believe me. Some of them fall away same as regular non-jailed do ...but the ones who are sincere are a huge inspiration as they battle the misconceptions of the public and supposed Christians who turn their backs...the success rate is close to 70% plus overall and that is statewide. I had been in county jails a couple times myself so I am not an angel by any means but with the love and forgiveness of our God I was able to see the light ya’ might say . I am humbled and I strive everyday to seek Gods grace .

Here in Texas we have a wonderful program that is an offshoot of Burl Cain’s program in Angola, La. Driven primarily by funding from Grove Norwood’s Heart of Texas Foundation, the Southwest Bible Seminary has opened a seminary within the walls of the TDCJ Darrington Unit at Rosharon, Texas, South of Houston. This is a fully accredited Bible college offering a bachelor's degree in Bible studies. Upon completion of the four-year program, graduates become Field Ministers and are sent two by two to other units in the system. Each applicant much have at least 10 years remaining on his sentence to enter the program. A broadcast ministry in which I am involved goes into Darrington quarterly to interview inmate/seminarians and tell their stories to a world hungry for inspirational works by our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ. To hear their testimony has been a life-changing experience.

I’ve been doing prison services for several years, teaching verse by verse through books of the Bible. It takes hours of preparation time each week, but it is worth it. The inmates have a lot of opinions with little foundation, so I want them grounded on scripture, not TV preachers.

I, too, am privileged to be able to share God’s message and love at the county jail in the Myrtle Beach area. The inmates that I’ve talked to are hungry for what we share. I know we are making a difference with some right now and that we’re planting the seeds with others.
