In Worship of Their Awesome Creator!

And Forever Good.
There is No Shadow of turning With You.
Your Precepts and Promises Are Everlasting.
You Say It is So, and It Is So.
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,

May They Be Inspired and Led By You,
And Please Guide Them in All Things.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

A friend of my sister's holds a huge yard sale every summer to finance a mission trip to Africa. Since everybody in the church donates something to the yard sale, and she is on a main street, she always ends up with enough. We always make it a point to spend a lot of time at this event and look forward to it every year.

Well, one of the things I gave away when I left Florida was my sewing machine. I used to be an avid quilter and home decorator, but those days were past as I devoted myself more and more to music. I have burned out many a sewing machine, from antique Singers to Industrial-Strength Pfaff monsters. Upon moving into my mobile home, I found myself wanting a sewing machine, as my curtains and draperies were all the wrong size for the odd little windows.

Well there was one right there at the yard sale, a "Viking" made by a Swedish Motorcycle company called "Husgvarnva". I had never sewn with a Viking before, and it looked a lot different, but since I know both sewing machines AND motorcycles, I bought it for $20. After downloading the manual from the Internet and printing it out, I was once again making curtains, helping out my sisters with their sewing stuff, and having a grand old time.

Well, at some yard sale years ago I bought a really nice tapestry fabric from Morocco. It had a lovely medallion design in the center and a curly, squiggly border around it. Now that I had a sewing machine, I decided to make a nice pillow out of it.

As anyone who sews knows, to make either a pillow, garment, or other 3D item, one constructs it INSIDE OUT, and then turns it back right side out as the finished product. This is exactly what I did with the tapestry to make my pillow. The Viking performed admirably.

But...to my horror, I could see on the backside of the fabric, the the squiggly border design was actually SCRIPT, and, although it was in Arabic, I had a feeling I KNEW what it said. I did not want that on my pillow! So I decided I would put the seams a little further in, and cut off the offending script.

I basted up the whole thing, lowered the presser foot, and stepped on the treadle.

Suddenly, there was a loud POP! like a gunshot, and my sewing machine burst into flame! I am NOT making this up! I yanked the plug out of the wall and simultaneously covered the sewing machine with a nearby towel (everything in my little home is "nearby") and the fire went out, but my house was filled with acrid electrical smoke. YUK! I finished the pillow by hand, cut off the offending border and stuffed the pillow. The sewing machine went into the trash, along with the treadle and the manual.

My next sewing machine will probably be a Singer.

I couldn't help but think about the whole COUNTRY of Sweden and what they are dealing with right now. Kind of symbolic, I guess.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.8 Love never fails. ..1 Corinthians 13(NIV)

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
