Lutheran (EL C S*A) Ping!
* as of August 19, AD 2009, a liberal protestant SECT, not part of the holy, catholic and apostolic CHURCH.

NOTE: The August 19 date pertains to the adoption of gay agenda policies, NOT the UMC agreement!
“The challenge is simply that there are some nations where homosexuality is taboo.”
The challenge is simply that there are some nations where homosexuality REMAINS taboo. They didn’t change.
Freegards
I left the UMC a long time ago. This is so simple: Does anything in the Bible prohibit sodomy? If the answer is yes, case closed.
The UMC has already admitted that they can’t find any Biblical prohibitions against sodomy and abortions. Absolutely ridiculous. So, I didn’t leave the UMC . . . the UMC left me.
It has turned into a Godless organization more concerned about marketing and not having to “offend” any of their parishioners.
Wonder if these folks have EVER asked God about His decision on homosexuality? I guess they think the Bible, as God’s Word, just meant it was bad during the Moses days. And, those other mentions Old and New Testament, well just tear that out and make their own Bible!!!!!! Sorry folks, for ALL, the Bible is whole and God’s, not man’s to rewrite!
Please, Holy Spirit, move these souls to hear and vote YOUR spirit, not theirs and make their evil implode upon them so they turn back to the Triune Godhead. Amen.
“About 30 percent of the delegates in St. Louis will be from Africa a bloc with relatively conservative views on sexuality that in the past has supported the LGBT bans.”
Agree - Africans don’t mess around on this issue, they’re not like spoiled white westerners who see sex as some kind of game.
The Untied Methodists, LOL
When does being more "modern" and "accepting" turn into a sell-out?
As for Bishop Oliveto, her sexual orientation doesn't bother me half-as much as her accusing Jesus of bigotry in the story of the Samaritan woman at the well.
We all know where this is going, don’t we? ELCA provides the example.
Homosexuality, like adultery, is clearly condemned in scripture. I won’t get further into that here, but we Christians are admonished to not even associate with people who claim to be believers but are unrepentant, sexually immoral. Read 1 Corinthians 5:11.
Scripture is quite clear, and what do believers do? They keep God’s word!
1 John 2:4-6
UMC members who practice and approve of unrepentant sexual sin—including homosexuality—are not believers. They deny Christ. Simple fact.
In my neck of the woods the Methodist church owns ALL BUILDINGS. So if they split who gets what. A church in our area lost everything because they did not agree with the teachings and also where they money was going. Very sad. The head of whatever its called told a church leader he would rather see it turn into a coon hunters barn instead of a church. Sick. . .sick. . . .sick.
If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don’t like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself. Saint Augustine
It’ll all be settled at the Pearly Gates. Make sure you’re on the right side.
“The church technically forbids same-sex marriage and gays serving in the ministry, but enforcement has been inconsistent.”
To say the least! My Mom attends a UM church - I swear, ANYTHING goes there! She’ll be 82, so I won’t make any waves other than I flat-out refuse to go to church with her.
And she knows my reasons.
I can remember when the Methodist frond on drinking alcohol and dancing.
Perhaps they should be renamed as the Divided Methodist Church...
That these wicked proposals are even on the table at all is a complete loss. The UMC is dead.
Even if the traditional position wins the vote, leftists will never give up and the incessant future attacks will end in death by a thousand cuts.
Our local United Methodist outlet has a RAINBOW on its sign in the front—just like the area ELCA outlets and at least one synagogue!!!!
But one of the ELCA establishments (which was once pretty conservative) recently added a second, much larger rainbow! Apparently, the original rainbow wasn’t large or prominent enough!!!!
PHOOEY!!!!
That it becomes an official “issue” in the first place means it’s only a matter of time.
I have read some the material from a couple of the UMC “LGBT-rights” advocacy groups. Some of that material is very slick in its use of conservative-style “godly” language, even with phrases like “praying that the holy spirit is with us”, as part of their attempt to sway any moderate or undecided folks.
It is strange to watch as a particularly political movement with no particular foundation in Christian scripture, speaks about its advocacy as if it was coming from a place with deep “Christian” roots.
Its “championing” of the “rejected”, because “Christ advocated for the ‘rejected’ “, it leaves off everything about what they advocate that scripture rejects.
They take scripture only as far as it suits them, leaving off Christ’s admonitions.
They take the story of Christ’s meeting with the woman by the well, who had been accused of adultery. They end their reading of that event with how Christ said he did not condemn the woman. They do not continue on to where Christ told her to go “and sin no more”.
They always remark how Christ sat with sinners and included the sinner in those he spoke to. They read that as Christ letting the sin within them stand, ignoring that even with the sinner present Christ did not preach in support of the sinning.
My sincere belief is that intellectual honesty requires the LGBT advocates to build their own churches instead of taking over others. I also think it is intellectual dishonesty for the UMC to accept the LGBT demands and doing so will create another schism.
