I support the the death penalty, but it also must be remembered that when people are on trial for capital crimes, they are trusting their life to a lawyer, who likely can’t be trusted with two dollars. I also believe the old saying that it is far better to let a guilty man go free, than to execute an innocent man.

I am not absolutely against the DP. But I have become very restrained in my support for it.

They are trusting their lives to a jury, and a judge seeing to it that things are done well, and automatic appeals, and a governor.

There are a lot of fail safes.
