I’m sure that your pastor is “the genuine article.” To work for the “salary” you state, he has to be there for the right reasons. I am on SSA, and I had high-paying jobs my entire life. I get less than $30,000. a year, so even if your pastor was able to tack on the best number available from SSA, he’d still not be living on easy street.

I agree. I’ve been in churches (moved around a lot, military) where pastors seemed to be working for money. Our pastor isn’t perfect. No one is. But he’s very sincere. That puts him in the top 50% of pastors I’ve met.
And unlike a lot of pastors, he’s worked a wide variety of blue collar jobs in his life. He knows what is it like to be a security guard on night shift, for example. And what it is like to lose your job when another company buys out the one you are working for. Wish more pastors had real life experience.
