Polish Bishops Accuse Ikea of 'LGBT Indoctrination'

Polish bishops on Saturday denounced Swedish furniture giant Ikea for what they called "LGBT indoctrination" after an employee was sacked for refusing to take down a homophobic comment he posted on the firm's internal website.

"From the point of view of the law and above all of propriety and common sense, it is unacceptable to attack the Ikea employee who refused LGBT indoctrination in the workplace," the bishops said in a statement.

The worker in question, named in Polish media only as Tomasz K, was fired after writing on the internal company website that “acceptance and promotion of homosexuality and other deviations is a source of scandal”.

The man also quoted passages from the Old Testament in the post, including “If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them,” (Leviticus 20:13).

At the time Ikea had asked workers to participate in celebrations of the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia on May 16.

Management also requested that employees ask transgender customers what pronoun they preferred to be addressed with, as well as engage in conversations with LGBT customers about their partners and families.

Poland just rocks. Everything they do make sense. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive to fly into their from Cincinnati. I would love to tour the castles in the cities and eat the food but it is incredibly expensive. They don’t let people come from terrorist countries and other words I do not believe they let Muslims in. Just a very smart country.

It’s not that expensive - you have a Cinci-Paris Air France flight and then from Paris to Warsaw on LOT

If you want to visit us, then I would suggest September - because July-august is the school holiday time with lots of kids crowding the places (mine too!).

The food and stay is not that expensive — check noclegi.pl for bed and breakfasts or go through booking.com

the castles are one thing, but there is a lot more:
> Warsaw - the phoenix city, visit the old town, nowy swiat, powazki cemetery (in the evenings), the jewish cemetery, the warsaw uprising museum, the faras gallery in the national museum.

I don’t recommend going to the Jewish museum - it’s not very well done at all imho - it’s chaotically organized.

Then we have the Lazienki park and the palace on water in Lazienki

> Krakow of course - for the castle and the old town, worth 2 days
Kaziemierz, a district of Krakow - the Jewish district - definitely worth visiting
Wieliczka - the salt mine arts - worth it
Auschwitz - must visit - it is haunting

Torun - a 14th century pearl

Gdansk - a beautiful Hanseatic port

Wroclaw - again another beautiful city

Bieszczady, Bielowieza, Beskidy etc - beautiful forests and mountains.

If you stay using booking.com, travel on our public transport (in the cities superb, somewhat ok to the smaller towns) you’ll end up paying perhaps 1K USD per week for accomodation+food+travel
