The question Pew asked was "Do you think the U.S. has a responsibility to accept refugees into the country, or do you think the U.S. does NOT have a responsibility to do this?"
The answer to that question as stated is NO. The US does not have a responsibility to accept refugees. We can certainly do so, it is right and good to accept some refugees but that's not the question that was asked.
The Biblical verses given have nothing whatsoever to do with whether a sovereign nation is responsible for the citizens of different countries.

The Ca8tholic teaching is that we should take anyone in to the extent we are able. We are no longer able or we would not have the crisis at the border. Further, when the need for asylum is over, the refugee must go home.
