The Extinction of Christians in the Middle East
Gatestone Institute ^ | August 18, 2019 | Giulio Meotti

Convert, pay or die. Five years ago, that was the "choice" the Islamic State (ISIS) gave to Christians in Mosul, then Iraq's third-largest city: either embrace Islam, submit to a religious tax or face the sword. ISIS then marked Christian houses with the Arabic letter ن (N), the first letter of the Arabic word "Nasrani" ("Nazarene," or "Christian") . Christians could often take no more than the clothes on their back and flee a city that had been home to Christians for 1,700 years.

Two years ago, ISIS was defeated in Mosul and its Caliphate crushed. The extremists, however, had succeeded in "cleansing" the Christians. Before the rise of ISIS, there were more than 15,000 Christians there. In July 2019, the Catholic charity, Aid to the Church in Need, disclosed that only about 40 Christians have come back. Not long ago, Mosul had "Christmas celebrations without Christians".

This cultural genocide, thanks to the indifference of Europeans and many Western Christians more worried about not appearing "Islamophobic" than defending their own brothers, sadly worked. Father Ragheed Ganni, for instance, a Catholic priest from Mosul, had just finished celebrating mass in his church when Islamists killed him. In one of his last letters, Ganni wrote: "We are on the verge of collapse". That was in 2007 -- almost ten years before ISIS eradicated the Christians of Mosul. "Has the world 'looked the other way' while Christians are killed?" the Washington Post asked. Definitely...

America’s alliances with Saudi and Israel, and the many resultant wars, have had the knock-on effect of nearly eliminating ancient Christians from the mid-east. Bush didn’t seem to care, and Obama probably quietly celebrated.

Just my view from the bleachers.

Genocide, anyone?

Christianity was FOUNDED on being persecuted, as its disciples spread out from the Middle East, and across what was then the Roman Empire. First the Romans resisted its spread, until it was finally embraced and fully accepted throughout the western Roman Empire and Byzantium.

Islam drove the religion widely practiced in Persia, from times of the pre-Christian era, which we know as “Zoroastrianism”, from almost everywhere in the Middle East in the years of the Seventh and Eighth Centuries AD.

Only a small remnant exists today, within India, and they do not proselytize. Which is a pity, because it is a much more ethical and tolerant religion than the form of Islam that replaced it is so many corners of the world.

Islam is trying to do the same with Christianity, and they were singularly successful AFTER the Mongolian Golden Horde swept through all of Asia, and gave them the backbone to resist the various Crusades unleashed from the Holy Roman Empire of the “Middle Ages”. Islam had made a major penetration into Europe, but were flung back by determined resistance on most fronts.

Now Islam is back.

The Muslims are taught from birth to conquer and oppress or slaughter Christians and Jews and other innocent people

the only way to stop them is to stop them

most modern western governments don’t give a dammn

A Christian living in a middle eastern Moslem-conquered country today is in danger ... and should seriously consider getting out of there..this is true for most Moslem-conqurered countries, actually, allowing for a few exceptions at the moment....and there’s nothing magical about having been there for a long time (the Jews were there long before there were any Christians and the Muslims have murdered or driven them out, too).

get to a safe place away from the Islamic influence, imho

But America had this fetish with regime change. It did not matter if it was Bush Doctrine,Cheney Doctrine,Obama Doctrine,McCain Doctrine or Clinton Doctrine. America poured gasoline on the Mideast and lit the match.

Let US pray that misguided; immigration, Islam, and climate bridge builder Pope Francis gets a Colonel Boggie moment ( the lead character in the movie Bridge On The River Qwai played by Alex Guiness) and does a mea culpa and finally decides to question the results of what he’s done what he’s done and falls on the detonator which destroys the bridges he built) and resigns.

Their blood is streaming from the hands of George W Bush. He started it, was indifferent to his fellow Christians and pretended they weren’t being slaughtered. I yelled at him the whole time but he never heard me either.
