Mississippi wedding venue cites 'Christian belief' in refusing interracial couple
Washington Examiner ^ | Sep 3, 2019 | Julio Rosas

A Mississippi wedding venue apologized after one of their employees denied an interracial couple's request to use the hall for their wedding, citing her "Christian beliefs."

An interracial Mississippi couple was turned away from a wedding venue with the owner citing her refusal based on her "Christian beliefs." The owner of the venue has since apologized, saying she was raised to believe interracial marriage was an "understood subject."

In a Facebook video posted by LaKambria Welch, an unidentified woman working at Boone's Camp Event Hall can be heard saying, "we don't do gay weddings or mixed-raced [weddings] because of our Christian race, I mean our Christian belief."

...According to multiple media reports, Welch went to Boone's Camp Event Hall in Booneville on Saturday with her mother after finding out the venue would not host her brother, who is black, and his fianceé, who is white.

..In the video, Welch begins to ask the woman, "Well, we're Christians as well so, what in the Bible tells you that," but the woman interrupts her, saying, "Well, I just don't want to argue my faith.

"We just don't participate, we just choose not to," she said.

In the post, the woman said her husband asked her where the Bible mentioned "biracial relationships." After spending the weekend looking for it and consulting her pastor, the woman said she realized her beliefs were "incorrect," saying, "As my Bible reads, there are two requirements for marriage and race has nothing to do with either!"

The woman then apologized for her "ignorance in not knowing the truth."

"My intent was never of racism but to stand firm on what I 'assumed' was right concerning marriage," she said.

this seems to be true - and I'm appalled at the woman who said this - it really slights us Christians and gives the left a stick to beat us with - even if the stick is of an unread person

Mistake made, corrected, apologized for and will be bannered around for the next two years as evidence of institutionalized racism in this country.

(sarcasm) Totally national news and obviously a result of Trump’s racist comments... (/sarcasm)

This isn’t anything to do with the President. This woman is insane - whatever made her think the Bible says anything about interracial marriage?

Whenever a professing Christian does or says something wrong or ignorant “in the name of Christianity,” it immediately becomes a news story and the left gleefully declares, “see, that is what Christianity is all about.”

yes. What beats me is where this idiotic woman got into her head that Christianity is racist? Christianity explicitly says “Neither Jew nor Greek...” - it sees all men as brothers in Christ and equal in the eyes of God.

Classic Leftist reasoning.

If one member of a group does something, that means they (Leftists--who always take the "moral high ground") can castigate (or elevate) all members of said group.

Examples:

One Christian did something wrong; therefore all Christians are bad. We (Leftists) must legislate against and take power over all Christians.

Someone used a gun in a terrible crime. Guns are always bad. We (Leftists) must legislate against and take power over all gun owners.

One trans-person was hurt emotionally. Therefore, all trans-people should get special treatment. We (Leftists) must legislate against and take power over anyone who "mistreats" (by their definition) transpeople.

You are your group. Your group is bad (in their eyes); therefore, you and your group must be dominated and eliminated.

There is no benefit to the idea of projecting your personal beliefs onto who you will and will not serve, just practical considerations (no shirt, no shoes, no service, etc.)

When we start picking and choosing we do nothing but enable predatory pricing models and the people who would love to inflict a social credit system on us.

Lack of reading the Bible (obviously) means she was ignorant. Insane? I don't think so, at least based on the information in the article...

Yet the media will defend to the bitter end the crimes of the adherents of the “religion of peace”.

I was told by a team member in high school whites weren’t allowed on the Bball team. I told him the coach would decide. Three days later the dude quit.

The devil and his people love to point out all of the flaws in Christians. Shame them publicly & call them out on it - to the point of killing them for it.

But his people can be lying hypocrites and murderers with impunity.

Know them by their works.

You cannot regulate stupid. When it shows it’s head, you just need to correct it and make sure it doesn’t resurface.

I think a lot of mislead people take the biblical proscriptions for Israelites not to intermarry with the surrounding nations as the justification of interracial marriage. Call that “racism” if you want, but it DID indeed apply to God’s people.

“whatever made her think the Bible says anything about interracial marriage?”

A great many who claim to be Christian have never actually read the Bible.
