Some advice, Mrs. D.
Quit while you’re ahead.
Too much backpedaling is of no benefit to your or your argument.
ealgeone is right. If it’s not God, and thereby truth, it’s a lie, and thereby of Satan, who is the Father of Lies.
THank you.
If it's from God, it's true.
If it's from Satan, it's a lie.
If it's from a human who is without the Law, but has the law in his heart (cf. Romans) it may be a product of "seeking God, groping and perhaps even finding Him (Acts 17:27) --- as Paul says quite literally --- because of Jesus' precious promise, "Seek, and ye shall find."
You have to ignore a LOT, to ignore that, which flows from the mercy of God.
Rome did that a long time ago by mixing in Mariolatry with Christianity.
". . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix,"
All titles given to Christ and/or the Holy Spirit save Benefactress and Mediator v Mediatrix.

Quoting from the Glories of Mary:
Saint Anselm says, that as it is impossible for one who is not devout to Mary, and consequently not protected by her, to be saved,
In thee, O Lady, have I placed all my hopes; and thus I confidently trust that I shall never be lost, but praise and love thee for ever in heaven.
Lady in heaven, we have but one advocate, and that is thyself, and thou alone art truly loving and solicitous for our salvation.
No....you said the following:
....by quoting the pagan poets with approval,...
You'd do better with Mariology, the study of Mary --- which is not adoration. Or hyperdulia, the highest degree of human honor. Which is not adoration.
I don't adore Mary any more than I adore YOU: which is to say, not at all, pal. We've been over this, before to no effect: but I write for lurkers.
Mariolatry is defined as excessive veneration or worship of Mary, the mother of Jesus. The word literally means Mary-worship.
And yes we have been over this and will go over it again...for those who read but don't post.
You may not see it as you're immersed in Roman Catholicism.
However, never having been Roman Catholic and being exposed to it in these discussions it is easy to see the errors.
Elevating Mary with titles such as Mediatrix, Co-redemptrix, Cause of Our Salvation, Most Holy Mother of God, Our Immaculate Lady, and Queen of Heaven cannot help but foster Mariolatry. Singing hymns to Mary, praying to her, kissing her picture, parading her image through the streets, and bowing down before her statue reflect a degree of reverence that certainly imitates idolatry and might as well be called Mariolatry.

That seems a bit misleading. There are 9 usages of the word idol (singular) in the Hebrew. Only one of them is awen, in Is 66:3. Although that word is found 79 times, it is only translated as idol one time. There are more instances of it used in the plural.
The Hebrew word, mipleset ois used most frequently for idol (1 Kings 15:13, 2 Chron 15:4 times) and it means a horrid thing, from the verb meaning to shudder and described something so horrible that one would shudder.
. Others words used as singular or plural mean the pain of childbirth; a statue or an idol, image. By far, the most common Hebrew word translated as idol means idol, as something made from a round log or stone.
We know, of course that the idols have no power in and of themselves, but those that serve them think they do, because those serving them turn away from the true God and that gives an opening in to the powers of darkness to work their evil. The
Dang Copernicus, that dead white European male! When is it Darwin's turn???
The honors are given by God, not by us! ("The Lord has done great things for me.")
The variety of terms shows a variety of significances. Some of these object are, shall we say, merely "vanities". At the other end of the spectrum, some idols channel bodiless entities, demons, that tell you to murder your kids.
Thank you very much indeed.
We are not to pray to the created...only the Creator.
Scripture is clear on this.
Jesus communicated with those who had gone before him ---- with Elijah and Moses on Mt. Tabor. They worshiped Him --- He didn't worship them!
Do you believe in the Mystical Body of Christ (of which we who are united with Him are all members)? Communion of Saints?
I invite you to consider the reality of the Communion of Saints.
Tagline.
Yes...we worship Him...and only Him.
But when those two were on the planet they prayed to God.
Yours is a fundamental but (among some groups of believers) common You are equating "praying" and "communicating" with "worship." Category error. It is not so. They are not synonyms.
You're attempting the RC dodge of hiding behind certain words and blurring the meaning of the words.
Roman Catholics do more than just "communicate" with Mary. They pray TO Mary....rely upon Mary for salvation and a whole bunch more as I previously noted.
You and I are communicating with each other.
Prayer is an integral part of worship. And Roman Catholics do pray TO Mary though they try to deny it.
Do you believe in the Mystical Body of Christ (of which we who are united with Him are all members)?
All believers in Christ are part of the body. The NT is clear on this.
Communion of Saints?
We commune with each other on this planet.
We pray to God Who is in Heaven.
We do not and cannot talk with believers who are in Heaven. Scripture demonstrates that.
I invite you to consider the reality of the Communion of Saints.
While here on earth we have this.
We cannot communicate with those believers in Heaven nor vice versa.
This has nothing to do with seances or necromancy or seeking "audiences," so to speak, with the saints in heaven. It is the continuing of love ("loves is stronger than death," as Scripture attests) and the sharing of spiritual gifts in Christ.
We who dwell in Christ are all members of Christ --- whether in this world or in the world to come. You don't get "less close" or share "less love" by going to heaven!
Read that tagline again!
Necromancy and conjuring spirits is rather looked down on in Scripture.
