The meeting was marked by the usual tone-deaf leftist politics a lot of babbling about gun control, amnesty, and racism and almost no talk of the Churchs collapse in faith and morals. The meeting was a mess, said one observer. The bishops much prefer to talk about societys failures over their own. And they would rather pontificate about justice than enforce any on wayward priests and bishops. As one attendee put it to me, Why should anyone take their thoughts on social justice seriously when they cant even hold molesters in their midst accountable?

They are terrified of the pope, said one observer. They are all company men. But behind the scenes, apparently, some of them do fret over the damage the pope is doing to the Church. In this regard, it is notable that Cupich, Joseph Tobin, and McElroy didnt put their names into the hat for any leadership positions. They were afraid they might lose, said a source close to the bishops.
oh Lord, that sounds so...disappointing.
maintaining good moral values in this life is a challenge, admittedly, and none of us are perfect at it,
but...still, the clergy should both teach and do its very very faithful best to practice and demonstrate morals...
and they can’t plead ignorance, either..Jesus taught to obey everything the pharisees/rabbis teach because they sit on Moses’ seat, Matthew 23:2 (Jesus was upholding the Jewish teachings while seriously criticizing some of the rabbi/teachers/pharisees for not living the Biblical teachings adequately themselves)... and James taught that
“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly” (similar in all translations), James 3:1
it sounds like some of these bishops should be retired ASAP if they cannot (or will not) teach and at least try to practice basic Biblical moral values in their lives.. imho.
**Wuerl and the equally subversive Cardinal Blase Cupich of Chicago join Michael Sean Winters of the openly heretical National Catholic Reporter for lunch **
Never believe the National Catholic REPORTER. It’s the fishwrap.
Excellent, excellent headline by Mr. Neumayr!
