It’s my understanding that Satan was an Angel of God’s creation. He was cast into hell because of his attitude toward God. He will never be more powerful than God.

Hello Duckman, concerning ‘satan’ here is a look at his fall.
Isaiah 14:12-14 (NIV

How you have fallen from heaven,
morning star, son of the dawn!

Duckman, satan sought to ‘be like’ GOD...to make himself ‘a god’. This was the reason he was cast from heaven. You could also look to Ezekiel 28:12-18...which is a little long to post in this reply.
satan is the father of lies and is ALWAYS at work. With him came 1/3 of ALL the angels in heaven who believed in his lie. They are the ‘principalities and powers’ in high places that the Word of God warns about. The vast majority of the world stays willfully ignorant at their own peril of these facts.
Look at how well satan and his army do their job on earth Duckman..... the vast majority of humans answer ONLY to them self....which puts them in a ‘god’ position. Even so called ‘christians’ cherry pick the bible to mold a ‘christianty’ that suits them....one that carries no cost....no ‘Cross”.
The Word of God warns us of this ‘falling away’
2 Timothy 3:1-5 New International Version (NIV)
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
Give extra notice to:

Jesus himself warned about being deceived into a kind of pseudo belief....read here....
