Mother of the Church*

Although by decree of 1631, and by Bull of Pope Alexander VII (1664), it was strictly forbidden to make any additions to the litanies, another decree of the Congregation of Rites, dated 1675, permitted the Confraternity of the Rosary to add the invocation "Regina sacratissimi rosarii", and this was prescribed for the whole Church by Pope Leo XIII on 24 December 1883.[4]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Litany_of_the_Blessed_Virgin_Mary#cite_note-cfdw-1

NOTE: Titles with an asterisk were added AFTER the 1664 Bull of Alexander VII.

Following the prescription of Leo XIII that the recitation of the Rosary should be concluded by the Litany of Loreto during the month of October, the false impression has arisen among some of the faithful that the Litany is in some way an appendix to the Rosary. The Litanies are independent acts of worship. They are important acts of homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary, or as processional elements, or form part of a celebration of the Word of God or of other acts of worship.http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/ccdds/documents/rc_con_ccdds_doc_20020513_vers-direttorio_en.html

Rome seemingly has to have an equivalent string of titles for Mary as it does Jesus.

This further illustrates the Roman Catholic worship of Mary.

The worship of Mary as the Mother of God is attributable to the early church fathers and clearly precedes Rome and “popery” by 200-300 years

“During the notorious persecution led by the Roman Emperor Decius in 250 A.D. against Christianity, the monks in Egypt popularized a hymn to the Virgin Mary begging for her protection. Originally in Greek, the hymn has come down to us in the West under its Latin title “Sub Tuum Presidium”. The earliest manuscript with this prayer is the John Rylands papyrus 470, in a collection at the University of Manchester.”

“John Rylands Papyrus 470, a prayer in Koine Greek to the Theotokos, written about 250 CE in brown ink, the earliest known copy of such a prayer.”

“Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genetrix. Nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus1, sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper, Virgo gloriosa et benedicta. Amen. “

We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen

Amen to all those beautiful, God-honoring prayers--- these are holy thoughts to be treasured.

Note that we are not ascribing to Mary what is only for God. Mary is Mother, not Creator. Anything she has, she, who is lowly, was gifted with by God.

And why?

He will do great things for you, too. I could almost dare to say it's more than our poor dull tongues have yet praised concerning Blessed Mary... because St. Paul says it exceeds the power of the human imagination. (1 Cor. 2:9). St. John says it goes beyond what we know, in this life, about being children of God. (1 John 3:2) St. Peter says we will be "partakers of the divine nature." (2 Peter 1:4)

All three say: IT. WILL. BLOW. YOUR. MIND.

Wouldn't it be odd, if we accept all these absolutely astounding promises for ourselves, as believing souls who love our Lord, but get suspicious when they're applied to Blessed Mary His mother?
