Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

(Music in The Bible)

Psalm 83

Psalm 83[a]

A song. A psalm of Asaph.

1 O God, do not remain silent;
    do not turn a deaf ear,
    do not stand aloof, O God.
2 See how your enemies growl,
    how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
    they plot against those you cherish.
4 “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation,
    so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”

5 With one mind they plot together;
    they form an alliance against you—
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
    of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Byblos, Ammon and Amalek,
    Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
    to reinforce Lot’s descendants.[b]

9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
    as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor
    and became like dung on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
    all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, “Let us take possession
    of the pasturelands of God.”

13 Make them like tumbleweed, my God,
    like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
    or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest
    and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame, Lord,
    so that they will seek your name.

17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;
    may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord—
    that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
Blessed Are You,
Oh LORD, Our God,
King of The Universe
You Alone Are Worthy,
You Alone Are LORD,
You Alone Are The One true God of Abraham.

1. Do not keep silent, O God!
Do not hold Your peace,
And do not be still, O God!
2. For behold, Your enemies make a tumult;
And those who hate You have lifted up their head.
3. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people,
And consulted together against Your sheltered ones.
4. They have said, “Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation,
That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.”

Oh How They Conspire together, Father,
Against You and Your Beloved!
They Hate You and Your Law,
How Much More So Do They Despise Your Servants?
Give Us Peace in Our Hearts When We Look at These Situations,
And Give Us Insight into What Is REALLY Going On.
Open Our Eyes to The Spiritual Warfare that Is Taking Place,
So That We Will Be Armed properly,
And not take these attacks personally.

5. For they have consulted together with one consent;
They form a confederacy against You:
6. The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites;
Moab and the Hagrites;
7. Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek;
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
8. Assyria also has joined with them;
They have helped the children of Lot. Selah

Thank You, Father, For Your Prophetic Word,
Your Holy Prophets,
Your Insight, and Your Discernment.
Thank You For Giving Us Guidance For What Lies Before Us,
And Hope For Your Blessed Appearing!

For the Sake of Your Anointed,
and For The Sake of Your Name,
We pray for the Peace of Jerusalem,
For Israel,
According to Your Word,
and Your Promise.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

It is nearly impossible to read this Psalm in the present day and not think about the mess in the Middle East. This Psalm speaks of a confederacy of nations surrounding Israel joining together to invade. It is strikingly similar to Ezekiel 38, which occurs immediately after the famous "Dry Bones" Chapter. The names of the enemies are similar in both Passages, and seem to be speaking of the same thing.

In the History portions of the Hebrew Bible, there are no references to a confederation of this size. The closest historical event would be 2 Chronicles 20, where there is a small alliance of Moab, Ammon, Edom, and a few others who invaded Judah. So "Psalm 83/Ezek 38" could be speaking of a future battle.

Now, you may think that this isn't possible, because all the names of those enemies are obsolete. Nobody speaks of "Moab" or "Edom" anymore. But, consider the following graphic, which gives the current names of the areas once occupied by these countries:

It also helps to recognize that the current names of the countries surrounding Israel are less than 100 years old, and only came into use after the breakup of the Ottoman Empire after WW1. Now the Psalm and the Prophecy make perfect sense!

The Psalm has a Chiastic Structure, with lots of Parallelisms and Contrasting Couplets. But the best line is the Coda, where it states that the goal of the Psalm is for ALL People to worship the ONE TRUE GOD.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

God Bless America!

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

_ EEP not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.

2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.

13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.

14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;

15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.

17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.
